I get that they are human beings, but you can't have them in places of business! Sure they may not harm brehs, but what about brehettes and the elderly? I don't know what to tell you if you think both parties are the same. One party has a ongoing war on worker's rights and the social safety net and the other is looking to expand those things to impact more people.

Just those two points you posted; Obama extended the Bush tax cuts for the rich and Democrats are a big part of the ushering of the gig economy--aka working with zero protections of employment.

I understand the "lesser of two evils," but, people really thinking this is a holy war between angels and demons.

Hell, we're still being told by fellow voters "We gotta put over feeling aside to vote him/her in/out."

Man America has really done a good job of socializing a significant portion of us into believing in "rugged individualism" . Assuming the majority of the homeless are in such a state cause they couldn't leave the drugs alone is shameful. Have people been paying attention to what's been happening over the years? You have gigantic tax cuts for rich (again), a minimum wage that hasn't increased along the lines of inflation since the 70's, we just had a recession that destroyed home ownership for a huge a number of black people, exploding health care costs, housing shortages, and the list goes on. If you know all this why in the world would you think that it's largely drug addicts?

Well, that is kind of the idea. It's unsafe and indefensible to have them on the streets, the rate of intra and inter homeless violence is staggering in metro areas. The shelters would, in my vision, (which is obviously very expensive) offer cohesive treatment for mental illness, drug and alcohol addiction, and job training. It's a re entry to society program. The ones that can work, will do local services, like construction, and cleaning for wages. It isn't that I am without empathy, quite the opposite, but there needs to be decisive action taken. You can't just have counter societies living openly in the streets. They are vulnerable to exploitation, violence, addiction.

You can when most people don't care. Most people are too busy trying to not end up in the same situation. The idea you proposing sounds good until you start to see those taxes coming out your check. And that won't address the issue of people who don't want to be in a shelter. Do we start forcing people into shelters or lock them up?
