making median salary of someone with a HS education is by definition not impressive.
That median salary is across the board for everyone my man… I should’ve added a comma, my bad. The median salary in the US is only around 38k. The Coli doesn’t live in the real world… You can live comfortably down here making 50k as long as you don’t get a big car note or something silly like that.

my uncle moved out there in the early 90s with no real skills. he worked retail and loved it while he was young. years later his longtime girlfriend brought him back to arizona broke and with parkinsons (she just dropped him off and went back home to ATL). that part about the skills is very important. you are better off staying around family if you are going to be the working poor than to be thousands of miles away around people who dont love you that much.

Dropped him off dipped..

Jesus Christ that is cold

Only if you are single with no kids is 50k good

add kids or a two person household making 50k, that’s not comfortable even in Atlanta

Atlanta
APS has failed our children for years but it’s not just an APS issue. It’s many of our public schools in the Metro ATL area…kids aren’t exposed to new sectors and industries & completely miss out. Like the tech industry booming and they’re looking for local black tech talent (Microsoft, AirBnB, Google, etc) and we don’t have enough local talent to fill those positions. That’s what allows so many people to move here is b/c we need the talent to fill the roles and we gotta import talent

As for those areas, they aren’t bad just more affordable b/c they’re pricing people out of living in city

BTW, side note but any of those people who have said “Atlanta is full” are generally those low skilled people who don’t have the skills, network or resources to compete for jobs with people from other regions who come here to live. If you say Atlanta is full I don’t want you around me

We have black talent, those big firms are not looking for them. They are looking for people who already have the experience and their work culture in mind. These people come over, prices go up, and we get pushed out.

And the kid who get out of these ATL colleges, where they go? Somewhere that will hire them and pay them more money. More likely up north or out west.

When people say ATL is full, we packed. Traffic heavy and nikkas travelling a long distance to get from work to home since they can't get work near they house cause folks getting pushed out.

Btw… You can DEFINITELY thrive here without real skills but you will have to humble yourself. I personally know several guys making 60-70k a year working at a warehouse. If you focus for a few years and not get swept up fukking with the b*tches and the night life, you can build a comfortable life for yourself. Dudes would rather work at a call center and fukk up their whips doing some punk ass Uber or food delivery because cats are lazy.
My shorty said the same thing about ATL. If you wanted a regular ass job, they're pretty much growing on trees there. Because nobody wants them. People make enough doing in between ass jobs or gig work. Sounds a lot like Cali in some ways

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
I’m sure a lot of black folks know this but the reality is people want to be in the A because of trends. Black folks who diversify their living choices and understand where the opportunity is in their career field will always be the most successful.

ATL is popular in hop hop. Realty tv and has a rich black culture so yea a black person who has horrible research skills will just choose ATL as the first place to move to.

with that being said my cousin who lives there and was raised in Long Island is doing very well. Her daughter lives with roommates in midtown ATL.
