finally some truth.

Drake has no classic albums, no classic mixtapes, nothing of the sort. He is many things to many people and nothing to many people all at the same time. Is he the greatest pop rap act ever? Probably. He's definitely king of urban pop.

Urban pop isn't hip hop tho. They are connected because one appropriates/borrows from the other (you should already which does the borrowing), but it's not the same thing.

So Far Gone ain't a classic mixtape?

Drake had a Tiller wave times 5 in Spring 09

Ok and Macklemore won it in 2014 so what is that supposed to mean :dahell:

Well clearly they had no business winning

But Take Care was the favorite the yr it won

Didn't Jay win Best Rap Album for Hard a Knock Life & in no way was that his best album

It's all about the impact & fact is Drake's music is culturally relevant & is like a capsule in time

This is coming from a guy who lived through the Meth run, the BIG run, the Nas run, the Nore run, the Cam run...I've seen all the movements, Drake has 2010-2015 in a headlock

Wayne sold 900k first week in 2011..he was the hottest since about 06. Drake ain't really lap everbody until NWTS came out.

And yes..Future had a better year..so much so that Drake rode his wave for an entire album.

To say Wayne had 2011 and then say Drake rode Future's wave for an entire album is laughable. By your logic, Drake owned 2015 easily because he sold more. Wayne couldn't have owned 2011 because he rode Drake's wave being that one of the singles that helped Wayne sell 900K featured Drake and Drake was also featured elsewhere on the album. To make even worse, Drake and Wayne were neck and neck in terms of record sales even with Wayne selling 900K his first week.

Ya'll need to let go of the delusions. Future's biggest record is a record with Drake. Future's biggest album is the one he made with Drake. It's not the other way around people. And if you're bringing up record sales, Future is far from running anything especially since Drake did more in week one than Future's entire album cycle. Drake's solo also outsold the album he had with Future.

Note, I'm responding to someone who brought up sales first before someone tries to say what do sales have to do with anything.

A run doesn't mean you're necessarily the #1 rapper out. It means you're on a hot streak. That being said, you can't say that Drake's run didn't start in 2009:

2009- "Best I Ever Had", "Successful", the features on "Say Something", "Money To Blow", "Every Girl", "Bed Rock", a mixtape that was free that was sold at retail that went Gold

2010- several songs from Thank Me Later were in rotation ("Miss Me", "Over", "Find Your Love", "Fancy", and non-singles like the song with Jay and the one with Jeezy), he was featured on "Moment For Life" and there was Ross's "Aston Martin Music")

2011- Take Care which had "Headlines", "Motto", "Marvin's Room", "Take Care", "Make Me Proud". There's also the Khaled record "I'm On One". Then you have Wayne's "She Will".

2012- Ross's "Stay Scheming" and everybody was on that "you wasn't shooting with me in the gym" line (nowhere near best line of 2012, but it was the one that everyone seemed to love quoting). The singles from Take Care were still in rotation.

2013- Nothing Was The Same dropped and "Started From The Bottom" was possibly the biggest rap record of that year.

2014- That year is a blur. I don't remember much of anything from Drake in 2014. I don't remember much of anyone making noise in 2014 really.

2015- "Hotline Bling", "Back To Back", the beef, What A Time To Be Alive, If You're Reading This It's Too Late

lol @ the OP not getting the memo that hip-hop been dead and all this chit is completely force-fed at this point - which sums up drake's entire "run".

Drake haters take Lz no matter what.
Remember when coli nikkas was making threads when meek dropped I wanna know, everyone on this site kept saying he was for sure done. Sure does prove what these guys on here know.

However, I don't think drake reign is that long, more as of that's how long he's been relevant. He's been relevant since he dropped best I ever had and successful. But he probably didn't hit the big time status until take care.

People ITT keep saying he didn't get to big time status until NWTS but everyone I knew was fukking with take care EVERYONE. Coli nikkas still stuck in that 90s mindset where they refuse to listen to rappers who can sing and rap so they ignore a classic and think the entire world has the same mindset as him.

Guys keep saying he has no classics. Take Care is a classic album and SFG is a classic mixtape. Wayne was dropping those classic mixtapes but it felt like after SFG dropped the mixtape era where everyone got popular off of mixtapes on the internet started to occur for example wiz khalifa.

He's relevant for seven years straight, which is a major accomplishment because most rappers fade out in a couple of years.

You can love Drake or hate Drake, everyone has their own tastes. But anyone who claims Drake isn't the most popping rapper is immediately added to my Ignore list. There's nothing I care to hear or read from out of touch fukkbois who can't at least admit facts :francis:
Drake isn't a rapper so how can he be the most popular one :manny: ? Now go ahead and add me to that ignore list you sensitive fakkit :francis:

I do not really listen to Drake, not my choice of music, but is it that Drake is that good or is that the rest of the field that bad?

Lmao @ Take Care being a classic and even if it were the case; half the album was done by The Weeknd, the other half done by Hush.

I'm a big Bell Biv Devoe fan, never would I classify it as hiphop not sure why Drake fans feel the need to try and lump him into hiphop, he is a modern day BBD and there is nothing wrong with that.
