The civil rights movement was in the 60s. All the civil rights leaders of that time have been dead for decades. What has been the positive impact since then?

They've taken 420 billion dollars from the black community over the last 30 years and we have nothing to show for it.

In Last 30 Years, Black Churches Have Taken $420 Billion From Members - Christian Blog
Does that article even try and ask to see how any portion of that money was reciprocated into the community? Events and keeping the churches open costs money. News outlets aren't going to cover food and clothes drives that Churches run. They are going to cover the tutoring services that they try and create for kids. They aren't going to cover the events that churches run to give kids a positive place to gather. There's a lot to show for what churches have done for the community if people didn't focus on the bad and looked at the good.

Yeah less places for black people to congregate in a positive manner is never good regardless if you hold the same ideology of the church. People really letting their hate for religion not realize what that means.
While I wish there were black places of congregation, as big of an atheist as I am, these pastors and their greed have harmed the community far more and hopefully this serves as a wake up call for them

I hate to see black spiritual centers fall because they have and can do good if the people running the church is righteous.

But there are so many hustler priests out here finessing people trynna get closer to god. shyt is really evil when you think about it :scust:

Hopefully the young "conscious" brehs & brehettes start putting our money together to build something positive to replace the church's.

It absolutely needs to be celebrated IMO. Black people in America have no business being Christians. That's the religion of our slave masters.

I guess we should also give up English, French, Portuguese, etc. Oh while we're at it, let's all quit school - it's the white man's education! Better yet, let's leave the country and go back to the land of our ancestors...Where exactly do we draw the line with that logic? This is a serious question because I see so many people use the whole "slave master religion" as a counter to Christianity and I never understood why it never applies to other things.

Yeah this is an accounting/finance issue more so than a church thing. The article also mentioned that banks are reluctant to refinance the loan, kind of leaving the church with no choice but either to pay, foreclose or try to find another bank that will refinance for better terms.
But its not though.

I KNOW pastors personally and junior pastors etc who actually will hang out with secular crowds and talk about them probably leaving their church to go where they can make more money.

There is a profit motive here and we can't be blind to it.

Very sad. If my church were to go under today, the community services FREE OF CHARGE to ANYONE that would disappear include: foodbank, low-income tax services, operation christmas gift, operation back to school bags, holiday community dinners, community bbq (twice a year), prison ministry, street ministry.. I could go on. The community my church serves is VERY diverse. We are beside a jewish community center and a school that has a large muslim population and they come for the dinners. We are a small church (300 members at most) but we offer services faithfully. I bet the same ones laughing sit their lazy butts at home when people like me are handing out food and helping people file their taxes.
Heres the thing...that Jewish school is TEACHING their students though. Jews school their youth on some serious shyt. Hell, most jews ain't even that religious, but they're ALL about education.

Theres some things we need to serious start emulating instead of wasting time on superstition if we're talking community organizations
