I'm not debating the benefit of the "services" provided, however we can't pretend that the same places providing these services weren't lining their own pockets either.

Even if they weren't spending that money on themselves, they wouldn't be spending it on those services.

then services.


theres so much money they have to make just to stay in the building, then when they start wasting shyt on the building or the staff money just gets burned.

And lets be honest...not every church is really knocking all that "service" out of the park...many of them are struggling to even do some decent shyt and rarely do many of them impact the community in serious ways.

For every 1 thats really leaving a mark, there easily DOZENS that can't even organize a canned food drive or something simple.

At the end of the day the church is still a business. A church with a strong following and that's been open longer, will be in a position to pay more. They are also more likely to have less debt and more income generating opportunities (renting out space for activities, weddings, etc) than a new church.

and thats the problem.

All these young guys think they can start up a church and end up spreading the already shrinking religious community even thinner.

Its sheer market forces at work.

Again, please tell me what has been the benefit of the black church to the black community for the last say 40 years? What issues do the black church stand in support of today? In the 1960's the black church led the Civil Rights Movement. From Dr. King with his non violent approach to the Deacons of Defense with their belief in armed self determination.

But what has the black church taken a leadership role on since then? Police brutality? Mass incarceration? Massive black male unemployment? Intra-community violence? Has the black church built any institutions that benefit the black society as a whole?

I'm genuinely curious because I studied the history of the black church in America, after the Civil Rights Movement, the church became essentially powerless, and I'm sure cacery was somehow involved.

In the neighborhood I live in, the Nation of Islam has done more for black people here (at least from what I've seen with my eyes) than the many churches that are here.

Basically...

Plenty of pastors in nice suits smashin every broad in the congregation.
Plenty of pastors getting up there on national tv to forgive some racist.
Plenty of pastors stunting with the money that's suppose to go to the church.
