Troy>Ed

Ed benefited from playing with multiple hofers on defense.

Reed did play with more elite defenders but Polamalu was consistently flanked by guys in the backfield like Hope, Clark, Taylor, Townsend, I feel like Pittsburgh's secondary was always deeper and more versatile as a unit...

this part, Troy wasn’t a liability, but Ed was a lot better, but i wonder if they asked him to do it more would we look at him differently

I think Polamalu could have done more but he'd never have the reaction time, speed, or hands of Reed...

i don’t think there was a faster safety than Ed in make up speed, outside or Taylor, but Troy wasn’t no slouch get to where he needed to be, and the man had a lot of acrobatic ints

If you watch the video there's nothing wrong with what Scott said.

he complimented reed, while giving a back handed compliment to Troy saying he had less responsibilities and had help, that’s bullshyt and Scott knows it, now if he wants to argue that they had different roles then cool, but don’t try and play the man like he fell ass backward into being a game changer, just like qbs had to keep an eye on Ed they had to for Troy as well

Troy P is who I would rather have on my team, ima sucker for players looking for contact.

Both all time great players

Ed Reed more finesse and cleaned up the ruckus Ray Lewis, T Sizzle, and Ngata caused. All time great baiter and ball hawker but you could game plan ways to keep him out the game.

Troy was on top of every play even when he wasn’t getting credit for the tackle you would see him in the action on every play. Zero hesitation once play was diagnosed. Bruh was like the Terminator with a ponytail...

Different positions, but Troy P reminded me so much of Junior Seau its not even funny, and Junior was probably a top 10 inside linebacker, so its not meant as a diss.

Seau used to make all sorts of plays all over the field and show up on the highlight reels every weekend, just like Troy. You know what they both used to do all the time too? Get caught out of position going for those highlight plays. For every 8-10 great plays you'd see on the highlights, there would be 1-2 'oofs' where they bit on something too hard and let a play in front of them or behind them.

There is a reason all time greats like Belly and Brady fawn over Ed Reed. He was too smart for pretty much EVERYTHING. You could rarely if ever fool him on any motion/fakes/bootlegs/trick plays. You could never count on him being overly aggressive like Troy, becasue he played within the scheme of each play....yet his instincts and physical skills were such that he could still 'make plays' within the scheme and somehow never be out of position.

Ed Reed had a rare gift.

I can easily make a argument that Ed Reed is the best player of his generation.

and no one would debate you, but Troy ain’t no chump either

Ed won DPOY at SS...in his 2nd year in the league. He could anything and everything Troy did, not the other way around. Troy could never play FS like Ed.

he never had the chance, but one would have to be a liar is they said Troy ain’t have no get up to make plays from across the field

I get your point but, to me a different animal, playing close to the los and playing deep to the qb/play, You can see more and recover if you miss read something, not taking a thing away from Ed, because he was that nikka period, but Troy has to diagnose plays in milliseconds because that could instantly take him out the play if his feet got caught in the mud, or staring in the backfield
