what’s the gap, keep in mind they played two different positions and roles in their defense

/thread

I've never seen them as competing, to me Ed was your perfect Free and Troy was your perfect Strong. I know the Ravens and Steelers had bad blood in their era but can only imagine the two of them had absolute respect for each other.

Can you imagine having them both in the secondary on one team!?:banderas:

Anyone feel Rodney Harrison is underrated?

The way we think about Dont'a Hightower making clutch playoff plays for the Patriots of this era, Rodney was that dude for NE from 2003-2008.

When he was out the defense wasn't the same e.g. late in Super Bowl XXXVIII or for the 2006 AFC championship game.

He had so many key plays in their back to back SB run. I truly believe had Rodney not picked Peyton on that first Colts drive the game would have come down to the wire or even have been won by Indy.

Rodney also had a key interception the week before against the Titans.

Also his pick six in Pittsburgh in the AFC championship the next year was a backbreaker. And then of course his two interceptions in Super Bowl XXXIX.

Go to 23:47 or so

The downside for Rodney is he was posterized by David Tyree  @BucciMane

You just wanted to mention Harrison to post that Super Bowl picture.:pacspit:.

In regards to Harrison, he has a real case as a HOF player. However, people might hold him being a hard hitter or "dirty" against him.

He definitely gets overlooked when compared to other Patriots defensive players in over the past twenty years.

Safeties were either box or coverage. Troy was both. Troy stopped the run , blitzed, & covered the pass on an elite level. Disguised coverages perfectly. Watch YouTube to see what I mean

Ed Reed did that too before he got his neck jacked at SS..... shyt nikka, you ain’t never see Sean Taylor play? I know he was a FS but damn.... You don’t remember Bob Sanders in the Tampa 2?
