Well the OP and all the cosigning daps pretty revealing that there won't be any kind of fan backlash against this and people will still watch, feeding into their ratings just like they want:francis:

If you actually outraged, DON'T watch.:comeon:

Again, that was all about New Orleans. There was no "basketball reasons" when they got Gasol for even less.
Your shtick is old breh :russell:
They got Gasol for Gasol who turned out to be an all pro center, 2 other firsts and a second
Second of all it clearly wasnt about the hornets. The whole deal back then with the cba was to stop teams like the lakers. Had owners like Dan Gilbert even sending messages to the league office begging stern.

And even if it was for the hornets ( which it obviously wasnt) it doesnt change the fact that it was bullshyt. Stern had said that he wouldnt interfere with management decisions and he did. Simple as that. I know it doesnt fit your Laker hating agenda but it is what it is:manny:.

It was bullshyt. Just be happy it was against the team you hate:manny:

I don't think Demps should have ever been given the power to negotiate on his own. That's the mistake I see in all of it. If Stern was his boss, he should have been part of any negotiation.

You can go back to my posts about the trade when it was first proposed. I thought the deal was awful for NO but I was fine with it on the Lakers end. They were going to give up a ton of size for a guy that didnt fit well with Kobe.

But at the end of the day he was given that power and Stern said explicitly that he would not interfere. At the end of the day thats what it boils down too. He expressed what his role was to be then blatantly overstepped it after Dan Gilbert

c00n: Critique of Dan Gilbert's letter

Commissioner,

It would be a travesty to allow the Lakers to acquire Chris Paul in the apparent trade being discussed.

This trade should go to a vote of the 29 owners of the Hornets.

Over the next three seasons this deal would save the Lakers approximately $20 million in salaries and approximately $21 million in luxury taxes. That $21 million goes to non-taxpaying teams and to fund revenue sharing.

I cannot remember ever seeing a trade where a team got by far the best player in the trade and saved over $40 million in the process. And it doesn't appear that they would give up any draft picks, which might allow to later make a trade forDwight Howard. (They would also get a large trade exception that would help them improve their team and/or eventually trade for Howard.) When the Lakers got Pau Gasol (at the time considered an extremely lopsided trade) they took on tens of millions in additional salary and luxury tax and they gave up a number of prospects (one in Marc Gasol who may become a max-salary player).

I just don't see how we can allow this trade to happen.

I know the vast majority of owners feel the same way that I do.

When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise...

Dan G.

Anyone who can read that letter in the context of what happened and still tells me it was all about the Hornets just hates the lakers. Plain and simple. Once again, be happy that it went against the team you hate but dont tell me it wasnt bullshyt :francis:
