But at the end of the day he was given that power and Stern said explicitly that he would not interfere. At the end of the day thats what it boils down too. He expressed what his role was to be then blatantly overstepped it after Dan Gilbert

c00n: Critique of Dan Gilbert's letter

Commissioner,

It would be a travesty to allow the Lakers to acquire Chris Paul in the apparent trade being discussed.

This trade should go to a vote of the 29 owners of the Hornets.

Over the next three seasons this deal would save the Lakers approximately $20 million in salaries and approximately $21 million in luxury taxes. That $21 million goes to non-taxpaying teams and to fund revenue sharing.

I cannot remember ever seeing a trade where a team got by far the best player in the trade and saved over $40 million in the process. And it doesn't appear that they would give up any draft picks, which might allow to later make a trade forDwight Howard. (They would also get a large trade exception that would help them improve their team and/or eventually trade for Howard.) When the Lakers got Pau Gasol (at the time considered an extremely lopsided trade) they took on tens of millions in additional salary and luxury tax and they gave up a number of prospects (one in Marc Gasol who may become a max-salary player).

I just don't see how we can allow this trade to happen.

I know the vast majority of owners feel the same way that I do.

When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise...

Dan G.

Anyone who can read that letter in the context of what happened and still tells me it was all about the Hornets just hates the lakers. Plain and simple. Once again, be happy that it went against the team you hate but dont tell me it wasnt bullshyt :francis:
I've said from the beginning that Demps should have never been in that situation. Trading away his franchise player for a bunch of old veterans was just :mindblown: Stern should have fired him on the spot.

The league owned the hornets and backed off a trade. Durant and LeBron and bosh were all free agents.

THIS.

its not rocket science.

plus lakers fans in here whining like they didn't just get 2 rings courtesy of that ridiculous grizzlies trade.

lakers fans should look on the Brightside tho. I doubt they would've won a chip after that deal anyway.

That's not what crippled your franchise.
It was the first domino that lead to mistake after mistake. We get Cp3 and we don't trade for Nash, one of the worst trades I've ever seen. Cp3 is still a top 5 pg right now

The Hornets owners had a problem with the trade so they vetoed it. The end.
That's not the end tho. Stern said what his role was. Gave us the limits of his role. Then overstepped his role. But I know you hate the lakers so I'll let you cook :russell:

You keep saying that but he was put in that situation. Saying he shouldn't have been in that situation doesn't change the facts of what happened breh. That's a separate agruement in itself
