big emphasis on not needed, i can produce film scores now at this point when i try and put those crazy changes in people give me the :dahell: look, most vocalist don't want all that crazy shyt this aint the 80s or 70s unless they ask for it. just keep it simple

if anything you better off focusing on arrangement than instrumentation: i.e when to drop the bass, bring in the strings, leave out the hi hat etc
Do you know any good templates on YouTube that speaks to arrangement

To me, I don't see the point of sampling for artists/producers starting out, can't sell the piece or license it unless you pay money....Why get into a lawsuit?

If you want to sample, sample pieces in the public domain...

Theory is helpful, your very famous trap producers had some knowledge of musicianship before they got on...

That is the exception and shouldn't aspire to be neglectful of your craft...

Just get on that damn equipment and figure it out. Once you get into the flow youll get better.

The first tracks I made between 1997 - 2002 wasnt shyt...but over time you get a better idea on how to sequence tracks...how to lay down bass hits and snares and kicks and eq and compress them for maximum impact...how to cut samples...thats not stuff that comes natural. It takes time

Do a beat every day for a year.

Seems to me you just bought some equipment and expected it to do all the work for you.

It dont work like that.

You have to put in the effort on that MPC or SP or EMU or fruity loops or ableton whatever.

This is what ive noticed.

Ive seen many people start and give up producing cause they expected the hardware to do all the work for them.

You want to sample Very Special?:dahell:

No wonder why you're struggling. Pick something you hear a clear loop in. Don't pick a popular song and try to force a beat out of it. Find something that doesn't have too many sounds with drums and vocals on top.
I want to do something with it before I move on. Been gathering different parts

Insignificant posting from an insignificant poster
Breh, just thought of something jean-yuhs.

You should market/advertise yourself as the garbage beatmaker. YES!!!

Just for being ironic and self depricating... at least you'll get inquiries.

It's a breaf of fresh air from all the superfluous braggadocio that comes with hiphop.

You've got it.

The right stuff.

Hey breh. No disrespect. Can you show me an example of a song that is 100% sample based and has no studio synths or instrumentation layered on top? I'm just curious.

I think the Bomb Squad back in the day relied entirely on layers of dense samples cus they was geniuses but I can't seem to think of others off the top of my head right now.

Everything is sampled from different records on both beats
