I've come a looooong way but this has brought up some funny and somewhat painful memories:

I used to hang around the food stalls in some of the known markets and go to wach and get free samples. I remember one stall the dude looked at me like "didn't I just see you a minute ago?"

I had to sell my old computer speakers for £10 at Cash Convertors just to get some food when I was unemployed.

When I was unemployed I used to clean windows for fast food places for extra cash. HTF could I live on that little bullshyt jobseekers allowance they paid every fortnight?

Forget having a car that was a super luxury, so I used to buy under-16 travelcards because they were a little bit cheaper until I got caught and ended up getting a caution for that back in '04. Damn it shyt was embarassing as hell explaining to my then girlfriend that I couldn't meet her that day cos I got arrested for that lil bullshyt.

Memories.

But now I got my career in IT and doing good and upgrading my car soon, but that's work and study hard now cos I ain't EVER going back to that.

Back when I had my first kid we and my now wife fukked up not paying the electricity bill all winter ( in cold states they can't shut you off when it's winter) our bill ended up being over grand and we had to pay it. Well we did and we were left with nothing for a week. I would call random fast food restaurants and make a fake complaint to get us a free meal. Used to home and one would have Arby's, one Taco Bell and one McDonald's. Glad those times are gone shyt was rough.

shyt was mad depressing and I felt horrible but we had to eat. Least I didn't stick anyone up

Being unemployed during the Recession even with such certs..... Getting interviews and offer letters, but barely affording to travel to said interview. Having cacs and c00ns grill you on "Why haven't you found a job yet?" when the economy was in the shytter.

I bounced back, but my childhood was even worse.

It builds character and I look at life with a significant level of cynicism and contempt as you could lose everything if you are sleeping...

In my hood if they know your face and that you're from there they not gonna let you starve.

They know the struggle is real and that everybody don't got the means to buy groceries no matter how much they might need it.

Speaking of which that adds an extra layer of ain't shytness to my first post

I swear if I ever get rich, I would look out for people. I would buy out the groceries store around Thanksgiving so everyone could get fed and get what they needed.

it gets realer than that.

Try purposely wearing your basketball shorts that got holes in em, taking the store money with you, then pretending you loss change for the 20 when you come back. Patting your pockets than acting fake surprised when you find the hole that you already knew was there, pretending the money fell thru it WHEN the money is really in your sock. Taking that extra 9 dollars, putting 5 on for the blunt and the remaining 4 for the dollar menu

every once in a while me and my fam talk about when moms was struggling when pops bounced and how we used to eat rice with some butter and salt,a scrambled egg with that when we was feasting,maybe some ketchup on the side.Those moments were rare but we never complained cause we knew mom duke always came through and no matter how struggle those meals were,it made us realise from an early age,we all we got and need to stick together no matter what.
I will always my oldest two brothers cause they hit the streets with a vengeance if moms pockets were lacking and they was with the bullshyt if it came to money

the period where i was done with grad school..i had to move out of my first apartment because i couldnt afford to keep it on my own at the time and my roommate was moving out..i couldn't even downgrade to a 1 bedroom apt..couldnt afford that either ...ended up moving into a house shared with other professionals...had a moment of reflection that everything i owned in this world was in 1 bedroom..1 bedroom ..that didnt sit right with me..had to change that situation

had a 24 hr gym membership when i was homeless. i used to sleep in the change room, or the bathroom just so i could sleep somewhere other than my car

i had to survive for a month off plasma donations

found a fat chick off POF that was a speech pathologist. you best believe i laid the dikk heavy and within two weeks she was letting me stay with her

everything has pretty much gone up for me from that point on though

POF is kind to nokkas. Those broads know the lick.
