I believe they were big albums to people who were already fans or are fans of grimey east coast rap....not undeniable imo...I can give you 36 Chambers maybe, and ill give u Only Built 4 CL on the strength of how many big named artist have said that it inspired them....Liquid Swords and Supreme Clientell undeniable:comeon:?....no matter how its sliced not on the level of E99....if you wasn't checkin for Bone, didn't hear Bone even if by force,if u wuznt fukin with Bone Creepin On Ah Come Up era you was a closeminded or sheltered hater:russ:...the immediate impact was undeniable....Peers give OB4CL classic status...the people chose E99:blessed:

According to Kanye and Just Blaze, Jay's "Blueprint" sounds the way it does because of "Supreme Clientele". Not saying that has any bearing on this discussion, but "SC" ain't being mentioned for no reason.

I'm a fan of Wu and BONE but :whoa: at typing out BONE lyrics. You're killing your own argument. BONE's power is their delivery. I'm not saying they got wack lyrics, they don't....but those lyrics read far worse than they actually sound, on a finished BONE song. You're doing people's work for them, typing out BONE lyrics.

Fred.
How else are we gonna know what was actually being said?

Fred's right about typing out Bone lyrics. Bone are brilliantly talented. But you gotta here it not read it. And in a weird way, typing out Wu lyrics, though on paper they may seem more rappity rap, is also a detriment to the Wu experience.

the deliveries with both groups is where it's at. But Wu has and always will be better. just one of those truisms.

listen to it ALOT i can understand and recite all or most of Creepin and most of E. 1999. Art Of War they started to get too melodic with it IMO and the clarity was lost especially with Bizzy. Krayzie i can still understand mostly, Wish is easy to understand because all his verses only have about 100 words just rearranged lol Bizzy is the worst for mumbling crap tho

Wacky, I try not to pay too much attention to your posts cause you're a known retard.

bullchit.

you had no problem arguing back-n-forth until I shut you down about being full of chit.

stop acting like a dikkhead.

Yeah I think the general consensus and by that I'm thinking hip hop magazines and sites, not message boards, is that Wu Forever is a better album in retrospect than it was in 97. In 97 it was seen as a disappointment, too bloated and too different from 36 chambers, which is why for the W, all of the promo for that album was about taking it back to the original sound etc.

since when do magazines represent the general consensus?

and dudes is looking like nerds in here, acting like bone is just some commercial group, while wutang was the hip-hop crowd's favorite.

str8 sausagefest ass dudes.

you want to talk about wutang having hip-hop & street classics, but bone did it bigger in that realm as well.

f*ck outta here.

The whole fact they got so big off underground sound is a testament to them n why people around the world felt that realness. Wu didn't have to try sounding soft to sell records like bone did with crossroads.

so we gonna act like bone wasn't selling way more records than wutang years before crossroads even came out?

this is soft to you?

:facepalm::facepalm:

nikka please. as a child I was a Wu stan...and a Bone fan...but growing up and being objective there is no way anybody can say that on a group basis Wu-Tang made better music than Bone Thugs.

Creepin on ah Come up in itself is arguably better than 36 chambers and its only half the duration. E.1999 without a doubt is better...but arguably equal. Art of War?? WAY better than Wu-Tang Forever at this point.

The art of war is a seamless album. Only skppable is 7 Sign

Oddly enough, I am saying this with 36 Chambers album cover as my android wallpaper

cosign except the 7 sign part.

that's one of my favorite cuts on there.

rza aint even stay in hip hop, straight conquered it out and moved on to all time lists. bone.. cmon. whats that guy who was their producer doing these days. wu still gets mentioned in movies, tv, etc to this day. billy, you hit it dead on. they are BURNING inside.

and i love how they always tend to bring up "it doesnt say wu on the cover" shyt. its their savoing grace for continuing teh argument.

:comeon:

rza been :flabbynsick: since '98. and he just started moving away from hip-hop just a few years ago.

so how did he conquer the game and move on?

Wasn't Art Of War a big disappointment at the time? And Creeping was an EP right?

a disappointment in comparison to e.99 eternal. sure.

the fact that you have to ask if creepin is an EP, shows that your argument is invalid concerning this topic.

Not a fan of Bone - due to their enunciation problem that stems from their style over substance delivery. But Bone was never about what they were saying - but how nice it sounded the way they harmonized the unintelligible lyrics.

Wu - on the other hand - was about the lyrics (with the exception of ODB).

further proof that you never even bothered listening to bone.

In 97 the source had clout and added to the general consensus. I wasn't checking the internet in 97 to see how dudes felt about wu forever. It would me people I know (liked it but didn't love it) and magazines like the source. Even getting opinions on here don't equate to general consensus because it's one hip hop message board out of many. So unless we can poll every person on the planet and ask how they feel about the record or both groups, the only thing we can go off of are reviews and chart performance and of course our own personal feelings

the source never represented the people homie.

nor did they ever claim that wutang forever was a classic or whatever you were alluding to.
