Besides C.R.E.A.M, what other megahits did Wu Tang Clan have as a group?

the source never represented the people homie.

nor did they ever claim that wutang forever was a classic or whatever you were alluding to.

Homie, that's exactly what I said..that the general consensus of Wu forever was that it was good, not great and was a disappointment after 36 Chambers..did you read what I said or just assumed because I'm a Wu fan that I immediately said everyone herald Forever as a classic?

And I'm not talking about it representing the people but it carried weight. When they rated an album, it sort of became the standard of the culture. I'm not saying everyone agreed but don't act like they carried no weight in the hip hop community

Who did The Source represent in the 90s?

the writers represented themselves.

only time it felt more community-ish was when benzino was allegedly running the magazine into the ground. go figure.

my bad. theres 2 huge bone/wu threads going on. I may have confused you with someone else along the way.

the source didn't hold weight like you claim. they were the most popular magazine by far. they held weight as far as magazines go, but that's basically where it ended. only the gullable types took their word for gold. if anything, I remember more people buying albums off the strength of their ratings and being disappointed.

just my opinion...are you saying none of those are classics or very close to them?
36, OBFCL and LS are undisputed.
Tical and Return are not classic.
Ironman is disputable.
To me that is the general consensus. IMO - Ironman is classic as well.

:laff:

Meth EASILY. Rae and Ghost were also miles ahead of those clowns. oh and Ghosts fists > Krayzies face.

What are those :flabbynsick: nikkas doing now? Because this Krayzie Bone video shyts on anything Rae, Meth, Red and Ghost have done since '01 and this shows that Krayzie Bone by himself is the father flow wise of all these new nikkas in the game

you mean all NY hood megahits.

None of that shyt ever got played down here

Were y'all still listening to country music at that time? Wasn't like there were a huge amount of choices. I guess folks didn't listen to HipHop until their own regions started doing it?

I thought folks may have been up on stuff but I was in the East Coast so I figured folks may have been up on the same things. I forget other parts of the country only had access to rock and country stations.

I see why you said it never got play there. Y'al weren't getting anything but Billy Ray Cyrus.

Cotdamn is it a crime to love both groups? Everything got to be on some stan war bullshyt

I do catch myself listening to Bone because the shyt they were kicking were like anthems to my teenage years. Ive been a fan of theres when I first heard Hell Sent on my older Cousin's tape deck. Group albums I'd probably give Bone the edge because Creepin and a Come Up, E.1999, Art of War were classics.. BTNH Ressurection and Thug World Order were solid as well. Wu Tang on the other hand started to degress within every group album. After Wu Forever, The W came(Which was solid) and then came Iron flag(Which was cheeks) then 8 Diagrams(Recycle Bin status). So Bone as a GROUP had much better albums than The Wu.

BUT SOLO ALBUMS. The Wu got this shyt by a landslide and any nikka that disagrees is a cotdamn hater.

Ghostface's Ironman, Supreme Clientele, Bulletproof Wallets, FishScale,
ODB's Return of the 36, nikka Please
RZA's Bobby Digital Album
GZA's Liquid Swords, The album with Muggs, Beneath The Surface(Solid offering)
Raekwon Cuban Linx 1, 2, along with the mixtapes he dropped leading up to OBFCL2
Meth's Tical album
INS Uncontrolled Substance(Very overlooked)
Cappadonna-The Pillage

Compared to
Krayzie's Thug Mentality(Great album), Good Vs Evil(Solid album)
Bizzy's Heavy Movie(Great album), Alpha Omega(Great Album), Muddy Waters(Solid)
Flesh N Bone T.H.U.G.(Great album)

The Bone Solo MEMBERS albums weren't as dope as the Wu jawns. Sales wise, critical wise, reception from the Streets, Even fan perception and all.

And this is coming from a diehard Bone Fan.

Tical and Ironman most certainly are classic albums.
meh.

Tical I never really rocked with. And the knock on Meth is that he's this super talented guy who never was able to translate the talent into an album.
Maybe the consensus is swinging in favor of Ironman? I always thought people preferred SC. Personally I think Ironman is a masterpiece (but this ain't about my opinion).
Lol at L'S being a cult classic. Nothing the Wu did from 93-97 was cult status. They were at the forefront of NYC hip hop. And that album was considered a masterpiece from jump. The apex of that grimy Wu vibe. Wasnt GZA the first to do a concert just performing a single album inits entirety? the album is still classic status. But maybe you meant that some other way.

liquid swords is a great album, but ive always only seen it get the classic nod by a certain demographic of rap fan.
