This. I was listening to Carter 3 a while back and it sounded very dated. Not that high of quality for a "classic" album.

The Blood Doctrine is a very good album, it's exceptional. The first 2 of the Triple Darkness series are very dope too. The Other Side came out that year too which was very dope forgot about that, so that's 5 albums, I still bump 4 of them regularly...

Wayne and Nas were the standout rappers that year


Also liked the Cool Kids, Game, TI, Bun B, Ludacris, Q-Tip, Jeezy
Some might vote Kanye but I didnt really fukk with that album as its not really rapping


Wayne had the big mainstream and street album in terms of being everywhere
And Nas had the politically charged and veteran heads album

When you add the mixtapes that year two, its not crazy to go with both.

Personally I went with Nas cause the album just spoke to me more that year. I get if people have the usual issues with Beat selection and some will argue the political approach while not clear went over people's heads (though its crazy how both the tape and album apply so much today than in 2008)

I expect might go with Wayne, Ti or Jeezy and thats cool but Nas was definetly a top MVP candidate that year

Also Nas named his album "******" what do you mean don't bring up race , a lot of shyt on that album was and was the first signs of Nas c00n tendencies (which have been on full display the last couple years) nikka talking about whites , asians and Mexicans his nikkas too

The whole song is basically saying America's mistreatment and institutionalize supremacy of black people creates a xenophobia to other non white races or classes. I mean I thought the song and video made that pretty obvious

Cant really say an album that has subject matter like You Can't Stop Us Now, Louis Farrakhan, American, Y'all my nikkas, We Are Not Alone is really c00nish with what he's saying on those songs

Thrown in the El Dorado Tape (with the unreleased Untitled tracks) that dropped in December 08 and this was one of Nas' stronger years
