I voted for Lil Wayne. Tha Carter III is actually my least favorite Carter, it's aged like shyt though I haven't heard it in full in years. The best songs were on C3 Sessions tapes, but Wayne was still that nikka in '08 like nikkas were calling him the G.O.A.T. and shyt he was EVERYWHERE. There's still some songs on C3 I do enjoy but in my opinion when it dropped it was a let down and a downgrade from C1 and C2 and massively overhyped. Imagine C3 without the filler and songs like Cry Out (Amen), I Feel Like Dying, Pray to the Lord, etc.
'08 was about Wayne/T.I./Kanye, I don't really consider Ye's project hip hop. I'm going with Wayne.
I used to be a huge Nas stan when I was 6 , I remember seeing Hip Hop Is Dead on MTV Jams and was

and then Cant Forget About you

thankfully I grew up
You hating hard that shyt is wild corny.
Untitled wasn't a wack album, lyrically it's actually one of the best Nas albums and it made headlines in '08 due to the controversy surrounding the project. It was a symbolic release that discussed black America at the time of the Jena 6, economic recession, and the election of the first black President. I don't agree with all the shyt Nas was saying or doing at the time, some of the beats could have been better and the concepts more realized but there were some great musical moments on there. It was a very risky release for Nas putting out an album like that there were stores that wouldn't carry it. Also, Untitled was toned down the N*gger Tape was critically acclaimed.
