there were some years where I was a little homer like GFK in 2000 but that album was SO epic it transcended everything else, so it's allowed. 2000 coulda easily gone to Eminem. and GFK was probably the best RAPPER that year anyway with enough mainstream attention to garner an MVP vote.

same with Mos Def in 99. Common in 05. etc....

The main problem with that year is I like 36 Chambers, Doggystyle and Midnight Marauders way more than any other album from 1993

While in years like 1988 or 1994 the competition was more intense
