I based my selections off of the definitions in OP.

To me, 89 only has 2 legitimate contenders. DOC & Kool G. I suppose you could argue for 1.2 but I think so of the years I listed there are a lot better than 89

2013 is a 1.8 because I felt there was a lot of strong competition, a lot of really good projects, but certainly not a GOAT year. But not average either

and 88 is actually a mistake, I meant for that to be in the 2.0 category so I'll change that now, thanks.

On the subject of competition, it's not just inter competition but you might wanna make it relative to he level of talent too.

Like 2013 may have been a struggle to find the best rapper (example) and it was super competitive due to many competitors yet it wasn't a particularly strong year of hip hop when you compare the LEVEL of comp to 1994 for example. Gotta Find the balance. That's what I'm doing at least.
