I get that it’s better for most to not have to commute. I actually enjoy the alone time in the car listening to music, but not everyone is like me. I also remember some frustrating days getting stuck in traffic, etc. i hear you.
I just disagree that commuting leads to lower productivity. I mean if you’re really so rattled from a normal commute that you can’t be productive at work, you probably have a mental health problem. Either that or you’re just

People showing up to work already set to :unimpressed: is literally normal and expected. Being productive in spite of that is expected as well. Doesn't mean you can't be effective at work obviously - its been the routine for generations now.

I think that's the big thing really. Most don't realize how many hurdles and checks there are along the way until they see there's alternatives.

Notice how that wasn’t taken into consideration? That’s how these management/ceo types think. They’re less concerned with our well being and care more about the output, seeing us as mere commodities and rather than human beings.

I could be wrong but as I said in my previous post, he’s clearly speaking from a senior/leader/management position.
Yeah. It’s a different perspective when you are the one writing the checks. :yeshrug:
Honestly reading shyt like this below is infuriating. :lolbron:
who actually cares about being more efficient and productive while working for someone else? lol. If you’re not directly supervised and your work is not held to some productivity standard, then the shyt will get done when it gets done. Within reason of course.
But I appreciate the honest though.
Imagine you’re hiring for your own business, is this what you want?

I think we’re just going to see people leave for other jobs that pay more. Aka “if I got to do that fukking commute fine, but I want more now…”

It’s hard to justify to yourself the fukking stress of a commute and office politics when you actually experience better.

Can someone in this thread list the positives of working from the office?

A lot of the benefits of working from the office really depends on the industry you're in and the compnay. In my experience in Corp America, these are some of the benefits I've found from working in an office.
  • If you're a new employee, especially a more junior one, onboarding is much easier in person than remotely, especially for roles that aren't as "task-oriented" e.g. you stick to a script/operational plan. There are some concepts that would be better explained on a white board.
  • Enterprise infrastructure in the office (fast internet, printers, dedicated meeting spaces etc). I've been going into the office and every now and then my manager's manager will come in because he has to print a bunch of docs. In WFH all those costs are passed on to the employee
  • In certain meetings, it's easier to read the room concerning what questions to ask, what not to ask etc. There's a tendency for people to just agree on Teams meetings so as to not interrupt the flow of the meeting.
  • More anonymous convos can be had in the office. It's easier to peel someone to the side and have a convo offline. At my previous company that's how I found out there were going to be some layoffs in my department and I adjusted accordingly. Not everything can nor should be said on teams/email.
  • "Out of sight, out of mind". If I don't see you and interact with you somewhat frequently, I don't know you exist. Business is still a people-based industry so it's good to get facetime with folks. This is especially true for promotions.
  • You can "ear hustle" better in that you can pick up on opportunities just by being curious and being around certain meetings/company events, asking questions etc.
  • Separation of home and work. When the pandemic first started and I started working from home, the days sort of just "blended" together and having your "office" be the same place you have lunch can make it hard to disconnect.

Now I don't think most people need to be in the office 5-days a week to get these benefits (again, depends on the company) but I do think some people will benefit from at least 1-2 days in the office.

Another thing to consider for DC area workers is that Metro in its current shape is in no condition to handle a mass crush of workers coming back into the office with them being short on trains and staff. They couldn't even bring back rush hour service even if they wanted to.

People will straight up quit before dealing with Metro again. Packed trains combined with 20 minute headways ain't the wave.

People should have known this would happen as soon as stimulus checks stopped. They were reluctant to even give those out anyway. Covid's still around, but "get back to the office."

Look at how quickly they wanted kids back in school and airlines open (folks traveling and it's still spreading).

The most important thing isn't the personal safety of you and yours. The most important thing is getting back to work, buying expensive gas, and putting yourself at risk.

It's crazy how quickly they moved to force normalcy.
Proves they were hyping the pandemic for political reasons all along. Now all of a sudden everything can go back to normal. No social distancing, masks or work from home.

Those old ladies are crazy as hell talking bout I ain’t paying for internet. One lady was trying to tell me work should provide it. I just hung up on her.
Technically she’s correct. Everything that you purchase and use for work should be paid for by your job. Anything you pay out of your own pocket should be written off as job expenses on your taxes as well if they aren’t providing it. But I shouldn’t be putting company email on my personal phone and I shouldn’t be required to have a home internet because the office is closed.

Shaderoom posted this story and its 1000's of comments completely shytting on Joe Biden. That audience (Young African Americans) is the one Democrats need to win and move the needle. People will be staying home during the midterm elections. But you know who doesn't ever stay home? Republicans.

democrats don’t need Blacks anymore. Claude Anderson tried to tell us that but we ignored him. Once latinos overtook us as the largest minority voting demographic that would end our utility to the Democratic Party, and that happened last election. Keep hoping Black people are the ones deciding these elections and you’ll just be setting yourself up for more heartbreak.

nothing you see happening out in the real world shows that democrats are reliant upon Black people for our votes.

Looks like you stopped following the COVID news. There was a new variant that spread like wildfire but was very mild by comparison. Delta is out the paint now. The numbers shot up like a rocket, and have shot back down like a rocket. Circumstances have completely changed. With vaccination and Omicron, this is the best things have been since pre Delta. Now is the time to enjoy the benefits of “normal” hoping this is over, or until the next variant hits.

Maaan, I'd give so much to have Metro over BART.

But can't they get the trains back online? Right before the start of the pandemic, the Metro was actually doing much better with being on time etc. The purple line was under construction and would have been a game-changer. Seems like the pandemic was a big step back for Metro.

This is the opportunity for you an your wife to strengthen y'all bonds at home with each other and now you know how her boring ass fugging day went because you were sitting there.

You nosy annoying muddafuggas. :martin:
