GMO food is not bad like people think

All of you eat gmo just so u know

Has a bad stigma but after long research it's actually a modern day breakthrough

There's no study that oroves that GMOs are harmful. None. I get the skepticism but this narrative is as dumb as anti-vaxing. I hate it when people ignore science.

The issue with pushing GMOs is less a scientific one, but one of economic control.

GMOs are far more competitive than the seeds of your Ghanian farmer. If GMO's are introduced you best believe they'll be heavily subsidised to cripple the local industry. Once that happens, the general populace will be economically inclined to keep purchasing the GMO crops. At that point in time, you have a private party that is responsible for the the supply of food to feed your country.

That's just poor politics no matter how you slice it.

If a country cannot be self-sufficient with their food production then they are at the whim of external parties.

And Big Pharma does not sell these seeds to farmers, they are essentially leased year in and year out. What do you think a struggling farmer that can't pay his fees for the seeds has as collateral? His land.

I took a course in college about the Politics of Food. It's deeper than you think. When people argue about GMOs it's not just the biological consequences, but the economic consequences. This isn't Gates' first time trying to push GMOs. At first it was 'Miracle Rice' but that was strongly rejected by the Ghanaian people.

It's one thing to lack food because your agricultural practices are outdated. It's another thing to possibly lack food because you have to source seeds from a 3rd party.

If you think I'm fibbing, look up how farmers in the US are struggling to make ends meet. They lease seeds from big Pharma and often have to put up their land as collateral

You have to question people's actions and not take things for face value. That whole "but it's science" argument is very thin. Scientific studies can be manipulated. Wasn't it the same scientific studies that 30-40 years ago found that there was no link between smoking and lung cancer.

There is nothing wrong with gmo's and you have probably been eating gmo's your whole life. GMOs are going to be needed more with continued climate change

Wtf does slavery have to do with science?
Who the fukk is saying slavery has something to do with science. The point is that their motives should be considered.

In and of itself, GM food isn't a problem. However when you're relying on people who have a history of hurting you to feed you, it'd be prudent to consider how someone with malice malice would modify your food.

I get not trusting bill gates for obvious reasons but like what’s been stated in this thread. Unless you’re growing / producing your own food then you’re eating GMO on a regular basis so STFU...

Why would a white billionaire who has a long history of unethical business practices care about people in Africa? Even if you think GMOs are safe you HAVE to believe that the guy has ulterior motives. You can't believe that a hardcore capitalist can suddenly turn into an altruist.
bu bu but GMOS are super safe man

Some of these dudes are never going to learn. The majority of these NGOs and humanitarian aid smokescreens to these impoverished 3rd world countries are hardly ever done in good faith. Look at what happened in Haiti. It's a form of economic control.

Most Africans on the continent I see take pride in their local organic food. Also Junk food is typically expensive as hell since it gets imported from outside.

Seems like they’re distributing GMO seeds to farmers in rural Africa. This will make it more accessible and cheap. Honestly, this is scary.

I knew there was a reason I was skeptical about Bill Gates in Africa, but on the other hand thought maybe I was being a cycnical bytch. Guess my first assumption was the right one. Bill isn’t the only one who is pushing GMOs in Africa, NGOs and international bodies are all over the continent saying it will reduce hunger. All they’re trying to do is drastically reduce Africa’s population due to their decreasing population. They’ll probably try to shift more whites to Africa once climate change really kicks in. The sad thing is most places don’t have regulations because the government doesn’t care, so who knows what type of GMOs they’ll be consuming over there.

African countries need to develop and develop fast. If they don't then they'll be underneath another wave of bondage.

You CANNOT have a private party dictate your food supply.

Like @Fatboi1 said, a lot Foreign aid is disingenuous.

They'll give you free aid, but they'll need you to remove your tariffs on exported cotton. Then they'll subsidize their cotton industry to price you out of the market and ensure they maintain economic control.

all these devils have to do is wave some cash and these greedy afrikan leaders will sell their people out in a minute... like the Chinese did with their "loans" and now in control of some of afrika's wealthiest minerals and resources.
:sas2::snoop:
So what do you say to the Ghanaian farmer who’s banana crop got wiped out cuz of a plant disease/pest that could’ve stayed healthy with a stronger gmo fortified seed?

Yall do know that nature genetically modifies fruits and vegetables on it's own right?

And humans have been genetically modifying vegetables and fruits for hundreds of years

Just outside of laboratories

Seedless grapes and watermelons....bananas too

The antiscience on this board is hilarious
Bad argument is bad.

GMO has a specific meaning.
