They had joint custody. The custody order was posted. Even if he had full custody, when the parent dies, custody automatically goes to the other parent unless ordered otherwise. Not some random relative.

THIS. I don't know why people don't do this. A lot of policies aren't even expensive. You don't even need a huge policy. Just something to cover funeral expenses and some debt. I'm sick of seeing GoFundMe posts on Facebook and Instagram whenever a death occurs.

From what I've seen, Black Sam will do right by everyone involved and I imagine Nip's parents won't interfere with him having control. No wife means there is no one else "legally" attached to him and they usually go to next of kin (parents and siblings equally entitled to figure it out themselves) so I think it'll shake out alright
