Russia has its hands in all kinds of movements. Putin does the same in Russia, even going so far as to bankroll the opposition, effectively controlling it. this is nothing new anyway…it’s just due to social media the sphere of influence has grown considerably.

As a leftist, I find the Russia defense appalling. They are engaging in textbook imperialism and it’s okay because…america bad, I guess? Both sides are clearly in the wrong. The only people socialists should support are the innocent people embroiled in this proxy war.

The problem is "Russian supported" has become propagated to the point where it doesn't even have to have legitimacy; It can be used as a catch all to smother out any decenting or "radical" ideal. The accusation is enough.
