Bro, have you see what these developers have been doing buying up houses near Brooklyn College to the east of Flatbush Ave? Houses are getting knocked down left and right for these buildings.

Too close to the hospitals and downstate. They want over there:francis:

Theyve been building a lot on new york ave. This is like the scene from Up; another apartment is going in that empty lot too.

Theyre tearing down all these single/multi family homes and putting apartments there. People better get on it before it's too late
The city needs more housing. The flood gates of people moving to the city is open and ain't nothing we can do about it. it's better these cacs live in these new builds than keep running up the rents and prices of smaller multiple families which will only cause more displacement

Getting squeezed out by immigrants and gentrification. This is what happens when you don’t own shyt.
Not completely true. Bedstuy, forte greene and Clinton hill had a solid population of AA home owners (bedstuy still do). Many are selling and renting to whites at a premium.

Most people I know that are thinking of moving or have moved have gone to places where the school quality is worse or no better than that of NYC schools.

As a young breh, do you plan on staying in NYC? Do most of your peoples plan on staying?

Interesting convo cause as a Londoner, I've pretty much given up on any long term plans to stay here. Unlike you guys, we don't have many good places to move.

Pressure is real worldwide :mjcry:

Get in where you fit in breh....

but that shyt aint right.....community centers demolished....parks flatlined...."the tunnel" and those type of spots are legend at this point. If you peep all these new drill videos they're all block videos. Its sad AF. and these "diversity clubs" will press you. They'll tax your ass or you better no somebody to enjoy yourself. shyt aint right.

Way too young to have experienced NY in its prime but want to go before there's no culture left

A lake near Tampa FL
I drove to NJ and Staten Island for 4.5years for work waiting for a transfer which I finally got. But there are opportunities in the Lehighvalley area where it's coming up big time. I believe it's the fastest growing industrial area in the country. There's tons of jobs and communities being built.
The Leigh Valley region being big upped on here :blessed: I liked Allentown a lot when I visited :obama:

Only issue is you need a car to get around (I live in NYC and don't have an driver's license).

breh be cautious of upstate. shyt is not sweet. My mind was blown when I was still a cowboy and started hitting towns like beacon/newburgh/albany shyt like that. It was a war zone. I had no idea. Gang infested. There are way less opportunities and less culture. Upstate NY is literally hell on earth. I know thats wild shyt 2 say and I can't even say no disrespect to the upstate brehs who may be on here.... those crakkkers hunting brehs 2... god bless y'all upstate brehs.
I'm from mass and even I could tell you upstate NY is a no-fly zone. Bro I almost went to Rochester for uni, I took one good look at this place and said nope this mfer aint for me at ALL

Anywhere in PA a car is absolutely needed. Allentown has it's rough spots but not as bad as most people here locally makes it out to be. Theres good food and bars. Lehigh is also pretty diverse which is cool.

If black nyc Folks want a traditional lifestyle and aren't making major bread, it's probably in their best interest to leave for the sake of their kids education. Something that is prevalent in NYC are cats who end up making "good" money with government jobs and can afford to leave the hood, but often don't make enough to move somewhere where they can give their kids access to good schools.

NYC is great if you are young and single or in a DINK relationship with no desire to have kids.
The better question IS WHERE, we not moving to a red state to raise kids. The only other place I can see is the dMV but they are equally just as pricey

I live in Brooklyn and currently live with my grandmother in my dad’s house. I only pay about $300 a month for “rent” and buy groceries and other shyt for the house. I make about 72K and have about 17K saved up and plan to save up for 40K in the next year.

I don’t want to leave NYC so I plan on buying an apartment next year. Obviously, the prices are ridiculous and I won’t realistically have enough for a down payment and have money left over for emergencies, etc. so I plan on using the state’s down payment assistance program. I’m just barely in the income range where I qualify so they’ll put 20 percent down on the property (maximum $100,000) and if the down payment is less than $40K they’ll forgive the loan if I stay in the house for 10 years (15 years if it’s more than $40K). So I can have the state pay for my down payment and keep my money that I’ve saved. I don’t want to rent so this is the best option for me if I want to stay here.:yeshrug:

I agree. The city does need more housing.

But I wonder why a similar thing isn't happening to the houses on the Western side of that campus?

Maybe those folks didn't sell to developers :yeshrug: or the zoning idk bro it's not some grand conspiracy. People realize they can sell for way more than they bought and they choose to. The reasons why are varied.
