Something else I hate seeing is Black slang openly used within the mainstream. CNN's online site which I used to like but has turned to sh!t recently has the following regarding this film. Those screenings were "lit" huh? :beli: I was leaning towards caving in and seeing this film but fukk that. I refuse to be lumped in with all those retarded idiots. Dressing up in the finest of African attire.

Those 'Black Panther' preview screenings were lit

CNN)Welcome to Wakanda.

"Black Panther" screenings were held across the country Thursday night and fans showed up dressed in their finest African attire or their interpretation of such in tribute to the film.

The lead up has been tremendous, with fans buying out tickets across the country and buzzing on social media abut everything from what to wear to what the film means to them as a person of color.

Moving forward, I don't wanna hear any of you talmbowt "the plights of Black folks in hollywood" ever again.

The way you nikkas cape for hollywood in that
-Black panther threads, mentioning how more Black writers, directors, actors will get opportunities now
-Black panther cast salary thread, mentioning how you "definitely know they will get paid for subsequent films"
-Using the few success stories in hollywood as a counter to any Black person mentioning their plight in hollywood
-Monique thread, yall didn't have the courage to ask netflix to provide criteria, instead made your feelings about her be enough to ride for them

Clearly you nikkas acknowledge plights in order to diffuse any possible counter arguments and to deflect any efforts to provide context to your point of view,
VS
acknowledging plights for you to create a self-checking system so to not let your emotions/insecurities/agenda or a great marketing campaign, cripple your understanding of any situation

lol. In this climate, sadly, I can't tell if you're trolling or not breh

We both know there are and have been good representations of Black folks before Black panther, especially in the era of social media, why make this film depiction seem rare? even Roman J Isreal was a good representation

Do we need to see Crazy Rich Asians to know that there are Asians that are balling and are not broke and poosay-less. Of course not

The point is, control the media, you control how people think
The credits and wishful thinking/outcomes that are being attributed to this film are not justifiable because there were/are examples/situations that could've/should've evoked the same energy/hype but it didn't because there was no marketing budget, theatrics and they demand more efforts and commitment, than sitting in a theater for two hours

I was serious bro.

You don’t think movies with predominantly Black casts that do extremely well at the box office are gonna continue to make it easier for studios to put big budgets behind them?

I don’t wanna hear nikkas complaining about there isn’t enough Black film being pushed then.

One day, a CAC will come out to the public and say something like "If you want black people to unite, give them a white leader in the background or a white touch in the revolution".

A lot of you will be mad, even though deep inside, you know it is the truth.

Google a guy called Luaty Beirão, he is portuguese-angolan, that was arrested 2 years ago, with 14 more people and most of the people stormed against the angolan goverment.

A year before that, a kid(at the time) with 17 years old, Nito Alves, was also arrested for complaining about the goverment. He spent more than 6 months in jail, without a formal accusation or audience. Angola, a majority black country, simply ignored him...Funny, Nito Alves was also arrested with Luaty, in 2015.

When it came to Luaty, they all went to the streets, protested and made a lot of noise. Why? BECAUSE LUATY IS WHITE!!!!!!

No because BP is not the first all Black cast movie to be "successful"
It's not about what you or I think or even what the numbers reflect, it's what the studios are willing to green light

Symbolism without substance:yeshrug:
it's cool that there is a movie about a black superhero and I'm going to see it tomorrow, but it's just a fukking comic book movie. I'll seen people talking about they had never see that much black excellence on the screens and they are going to name their son t'challa. That shyt shows an inferiority complex and reeks of craving white acceptance "omg Disney is making a movie about black ppl we have made it yaaaaas"

we are in a system of white supremacy and this movie will not make a drop in the bucket of change. we act like abused children politically. if i want to see a black hero I can look on the fukking mirror
Well, some black people feel like they have nothing to hold on to so the illusion of such black excellence makes them feel some type of way about themselves.

Personally, I look forward to seeing the movie. But honestly, all the shenanigans going on on social media and people spending hundreds of dollars buying up costumes to go see the movie is WAAYYY OVER THE TOP. If I was to post some of my friends' social media pics and posts about seeing the movie it's absolutely ridiculous and a damn shame. You can almost watch the pics and hear others laughing at the ridiculousness. Hell, i laugh at the white folks too when they dress up for Star Wars
But what can you do? :manny:
Ive just been sitting in the corner watching all the hype from afar and not saying anything positive nor negative about it myself. I look forward to seeing it in a few weeks because i hate crowds in the theatre.

I pay taxes so cacs dont lock my black ass up. Haha :russ:

But when I do work, I work for myself. Not for cacs. Cause I understand that in order to have black power - you need black ownership:russ:

But real talk... I just wanna see black folks in positions of power..... I aint tryna rain on y'all parade... I just wanna see us making millions and owning the entire movie instead of being hired "representation"

I just want the community empowered, and you should want the same.

But I aint mad if nikkas wanna see a movie..... I just hate when nikkas go overboard with the pro black bullshyt.... It always feels like a parady or comedy skit and its always some cacs cashing out and nikkas celebrating...... This representation shyt is getting old.... I want us empowered

No threads about how pathetic racist white people are reacting to the success of this black super hero movie? No threads telling white racists to not kill they selves it's just a symbolic victory for black people to have the highest grossing super hero film? No threads talking about how pathetic the white racists is for trying to sabotage a movie that's just a comic book film?

That tells me everything I need to know. I hope this film be the most successful film ever and I hope it shows black people how much power we got and how we're the best
