Stop moving the goal post you insinuated in your initial post that HBCU were not considered by companies to get their talent i gave you an example of one granted it's a quality school now you want to stratify HBCUs that was not your initial statement.

And of course people are going to hire people who went to institutions with great reputations Howard is one of them and its still a HBCU.
:gucci:

Are you dumb outside of Howard- top law firms and Big 4 accounting firms are not recruiting heavily at HBCU's.

thats common sense.
Anyone familiar with Howard knows that majority of Howard students come from Black upper middle class families- in white areas. These are the black people who live in White areas but want there child to experience a top black hbcu- the cost of tuition alone tells you that.

People at Howard- already come from that type background.

Anyone familiar with Howard knows alot of students there never attended majority black high schools or lived in Majority black areas until they got to howard.

Also Howard Law school has plenty of immigrants, african, indian, west indian, arab- not culturally black american.

Seems to be a lot of dismissive people in this thread. How do you know she is bullshytting?

At the same time, what does she really expect?
“I feel like they hire someone that meets exactly their qualifications and I feel like this is a problem,” she told host Jamarlin Martin. “And when I was saying there’s a hiring problem, a lot of what people are asking for is they don’t realize that they’re asking for a white person. They might find a black person that does (meet the criteria), and it’s … probably not going to be the type of black person that’s actually going to do the thing that we want because it’s what THEY want.”

:what:She has to be more detailed on this.

Again with the namecalling read my statement again. You said that that only PWIs are in the conversation. I gave you Howard then you went rambling about Grambling and stuff of course all schools are not equal in terms of rep.

Secondly as someone born and raised in DC and grew up on Georgia Ave 5 minutes from Howard's campus, I have family that wrnt to Howard and know that Howard itself is diverse in socio economic status and the types of Black people from all over the WORLD and country attend the institution.

@Frangala You named Howard but you dont know the socieconomic background of many howard students and alumni.

A person who attended Howard, Morehouse, Hampton, Spellman is definitely different then one who attended Grambling, Morgan, Coppin, Pvam, Norfolk, DSU

I went to an HBCU and yes there is an unspoke level of tiers. everyone knows if you're familiar with HBCUS.

how did you nikkas turn this into a "sterotypical black vs non sterotypical black", and complain about code switching and the younger gen in this thread?

The article explains what she means espescially with the Clarence Thomas reference.

Yall nikkas call mfs like Clarence Thomas and others of his ilk c00ns every day, now yall nikkas can't comprehend wtf she saying and now misconstruing her and the article's message:mjlol:

Yep if you work in corporate america as a black person you know what she means.

Second what are folks talking about regular black folks don't get engineering degrees.

Work at an DoD contractor or government gig you will see a BUNCH of regular black folks with advanced degrees. shyt I know a brotha right now who is a chief engineer who has 2 masters and a PHD. Dude a regular brotha from Birmingham Alabama. Graduated from a HBCU and got a PHD from University of Texas. Matter a fact this brotha does community work in south dallas, married to a sista and is an alpha.

a black person who grew up in a lower to middle class black neighborhood will not have the same interests as some upper middle class cac. The majority of black ppl still live in majority black neighborhoods. So we are systematically denied access to these positions.
nah. girl in the article is an idiot

i grew up in a white/indian neighborhood, but luckily went to highschool with a lot of black ppl.
all my real friends are black people
our main interests?

rap music, basketball/sports, women, shoes, cars,...shyt that i imagine most black dudes are interested in.
what are most white dudes interested in? music (especially rap these days), sports, women, cars, movies? etc. What am I missing?

we all grew up relatively middle class around lots of whites and indians during those formative years. Some of my homies grew up in Ghana even, or the hood...Despite all this we are all very similar in terms of our interests

for whatever reason though, i have had white people say dumb shyt like I'm one of the whitest black guys they know. for whatever reason, i have had black girls say they thought i was into white or asian girls...despite me never having dated a white girl or even fukked an asian girl. Why?

1) i dont act the way around them the same way i do around my homies. i'm not comfortable around white ppl like that and err on the side of caution ...especially at work

2) white people dont expect a black guy to be very articulate, intelligent, professional or polite for whatever reason.

it has nothing to do with interests. Some people just expect black people to act a certain way, and when they dont theyre consider them to be whitewashed...perpetuating the stupid stereotypes.
