This is actually a good point. black folks celebrate prom, high school graduations harder than any other race.. its almost like its embedded in our minds that we wont go further.

No matter how much money you have, prom shouldn't run more than a rack or two MAX (especially if you're going with a crew). We had ours in the grand ballroom at Navy Pier, followed by a boat ride on the lake with tunes and food. After, some folks hit the city or went home. My crew rented a bunch of houses in Galena; we rode our with food and drink and kicked it for the weekend

For a male,yes....but i can easily see how a young woman could easily hit those numbers.

hair,nails, dress that isn't from charlotte russe, shoes...makeup,photos etc.


We can't fault parents for wanting to make a right of passage/coming of age event memorable...and a lot of prom-centric items take advantage of that to pull in extra dollars.
