You’re not getting rich of trades either. Government jobs are the backbone of the black middle class. I’d prefer a government office job over a trade. Trades don’t offer pensions like Government jobs do. This by itself makes it a much better choice.

Add in the seasonality of some jobs and the the wear and tear on your body…

This board only presents the pros of trades without mentioning the cons.

Trades do offer pensions. There isn't a union out there where you will not get a pension; and a lot of non-union employers have pensions or some sort of similar retirement plan.

I completely understand why trades are not for everyone; but if you're an office government guy this probably aint the thread for you. especially talking out the side of your mouth.

Relying on your employer for retirement is how alot of people get jerked, imo. I’m not saying trades will get you rich, but you can yield a good amount of money to position you more quickly than decaying at a job for decades.

You can get rich off trade work. You can get rich in just about any industry; but you have to be THAT guy.

edit: the people in here talking about its only for yt people and hispanics are most likely agents. Any brehs please don't fall for that okie doke.

Totally out of curiosity (I went to college, got a bachelors and don’t plan on working a trade), but, isn’t there a lot of racism in construction? Do you all have to put up with that?

I personally don't think so; however you can't be soft and be a linemen. Big storm hits...you're out there in the most inclamite weather where a mistake can easily kill you. Its a trade off. Electricity in general is dangerous as fukk anyway you slice it. But all the fatalities and injuries are almost always from carelessness.

See, information like this is crucial. Whole thread been nothing but "omg trades!!!! 🤩🤩🤩" And nikkas be leaving out 'do or die' info like this lol

Say that shyt AGAIN! As I get older I realize how much current public school trends only prepare us to goto college and nothing else. All highschools should have trade programs. If I had it to all over again I'd have gone into the trades before even thinking about college.

A lot of you guys struggle with women as is imagine telling them you work as a plumber and fix pipes full of shyt for a living.

I went to community college and in my state it’s virtually free then transferred. My bachelor’s was remote and costed a fraction of what it would normally cost. I hacked college and came out ahead.

I think college brehs win this round

Why can’t someone research the info for themselves? It’s not hard to see what trades, unions, and educational opportunities are available in your city. That’s just lazy. Figure out some shyt for yourself.

It’s a lot of valuable information in here. Based on your own goals and personal interests, you should be able to do a lot with it. If you don’t have goals or personal interests, this thread may not be helpful.

How can people be so contrarian with good information? Then other grown men are discouraging it. That’s sad.
Good information?
You say it’s lazy but how would people know about trades if no one talks to them about it, especially somebody who is actually into trades?
Ain’t no high schools out here teaching trades, ain’t nobody promoting “worker shortages” in trades in the city so why u assuming the average person knows what’s going on?
And that worker shortage really isn’t a good argument neither
If trades was as good as people say they are you shouldn’t need to talk down on college just to big up trades, that’s phony in my opinion?

Yes good information that YOU have to follow up on. I’m assuming most everyone here is out of highschool so as an adult, I no longer use what highschool didn’t provide as an excuse to what I don’t know now. Especially when you can research almost any damn thing.

If you want to make a good living for yourself, I feel there are various ways with both college and/or trades, however you have to do some work. First research to narrow down a path, then a plan to tackle the path. It’s not overnight for any avenue.

Why would you choose your career over how a woman percives you in the first place :dahell:

Dont trade brehs enter trade school at a fraction of the cost compared to a normal university route too?
