This ain't it. You LA c00ns better vote that black woman in. It's the governor, Senate, and presidential elections where need to apply this kinda pressure. Not push up on your local black politicians you should be supporting them you idiots.

Karen Bass does not have a history of doing things for Black People in LA.

Maxine Waters has done way more for Black People than Karen Bass.

People are going to blame Snoop Dogg if Karen Bass loses :snoop:

Wait why we voting for a white billionaire instead of a black woman?

Bass
The district, numbered as the 33rd district for her first term, covers several areas south and west of downtown Los Angeles. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously served for six years in the California State Assembly, the last two as speaker. Bass is a candidate in the 2022 Los Angeles mayoral election.

Caruso
A former member of the Republican Party, Caruso changed his affiliation to the Democratic Party when he became a candidate in the 2022 Los Angeles mayoral election.

Holy shyt we really falling for this? :snoop:

Gotta love how the onus is never on the politician and always on the people lol the condescension is wild. Also, at this point, these writers just need to keep it real and acknowledge that, at the very least, tough-on-crime policies won't get you canceled outside of academia.

Ice Cube explained that, although he hadn’t paid attention to politics in a long time, he acted because Democrats weren’t doing anything to help Black men and, therefore, didn’t deserve any loyalty for votes if Republicans were willing to do better. (...)

I heard a similar sort of logic when I went to Leimert Park over the weekend to try to understand the apparently lagging support for Bass.

I was hoping to talk to Black men who planned to cast their ballots for Caruso. Instead, I found a bunch of irritated Bass voters who nevertheless understood why their fellow Black men would do such a thing.

They told me many Black men are disillusioned and fed up with status quo. They don’t believe another politician can fix anything in Los Angeles. So why not give Caruso a shot?

Some Black men, they said, are naive about the complexities of city politics and don’t understand that Caruso’s promises on homelessness and the economy won’t be easy or quick to implement — if they happen at all.

Sound like valid concerns and she at least acknowledges that it isn't just blind support for dude and there's some nuanced thinking going on; still sad how she's trying to twist their reasoning on some culture war shyt.

Some were like Willie, who told me he used to vote regularly, but stopped because he doesn’t believe a politician — any politician — can solve his problems.

“You can work and your wife can or your child can work. The dogs can work. The rats and the roaches even working, and you still cannot afford to stay in a studio apartment in South Los Angeles,” he told me, taking a break from selling used DVDs and books out of his minivan.

This got me tight. Dude's going through informal employment and having trouble paying rent and the author is talking about some Ice Cube effect™ and upholding the patriarchy™.

The thing is we don't even know if Snoop is an LA resident. That's the thing about the article. We don't even know if the few black men she interviewed or spoke on -the singer Avant and a homeless dude- are even LA residents and are allowed to vote in this election. She didn't even hit the pavement to get the real consensus as to what the vibe is on who black men are voting for. I personally live in Inglewood and our mayor, Mayor Butts, is black.

Bass, who's running for LA Mayor which is a completely different ballgame, has to get in bed and on the good side with the Whites, Mexicans, Asians, Jews, Koreans, Japanese, etc, right along with securing the black vote. If she had one-third of rep and history as a Maxine Waters or hell even if she had a hella of a mouthpiece and charisma she would probably be sitting pretty in the race right now. Another thing if I can recall correctly was that Mark Riddley Thomas, a long time LA black city councilman who has huge pull and sway in black Los Angeles, was supposed to endorse Bass but he's currently in a corruption scandal involving USC and she backed away from him. Now she's on her own

That dude was in another thread calling for the national guard to occupy cities.

If u lived in Philly you would understand.

I said if stop and frisk didn't work do that as a last resort. This crime is out of control in our neighborhoods. I know your scary azz would not see that.

Media can complain all they want but black men have been trending away from Democrats for years now.

2008 (95 percent voted for Barack)
2012 (87 percent voted for Barack)
2016 (82 percent voted for Hillary)
2020 (79 percent voted for Biden)
* That’s minus 16 in 12 years (This has implications for Georgia, Michigan and Pennsylvania).

You can dismiss and ignore a group of people for so long before they eventually seek an alternative.

Also respectfully this talking down to black men and calling them misogynistic, ignorant, etc is not the wave at all. It’s demeaning, emasculating and a form of mental abuse.

It’s clear most black men aren’t comfortable with who the Democratic Party chooses as their face or representation so something has to give.
