Honestly looking at it, some people do have it confused with the bigger Anime Conventions from the major cities. At the end of the day, RDC are closer to the category of streamers so that crowd will mainly be like that. There’ll be more hypebeasts there.
DreamCon is more for content creators and what they do.
Anime Con and Anime Expo are more focused on anime, video games and artistic crowd.
The main major LA, NYC, DC, etc. Anime events are the ones to go to if you really want to dress up and interact with the nerdy crowd. These are the major events where people get dressed up and are going to be more nerdy. It’s just a different category of big name companies who attend and host so you’ll get more official and rare art, collectibles, etc.

Did Honda partner with frats for an anime convention?
You're comparing Honda partnering with HBCUs for a quiz show to YouTubers partnering with D9s for a convention for anime, movies, sports, music, and video games where people dress up like their favorite fictional and or animated characters.
The situations are no way similar.

When I was in college we used to hate when frats started party walking through every single function. Everybody chilling and having a good time and they're going around the room stepping. They created their own bubble, weren't engaging with non frats, and it just made things weird. Damn near had fights break out because people weren't having it.
I 100% get why it would bother some people at a convention.
Not really. RDC is the YouTube generation which came before the streamers blew up so they have a slightly different audience. They're more in line with other YouTubers like Caleb City, King Vader, and YaboyRoshi. They have a big nerd following that the streamers don't. People like Duke Dennis and Kai Cenat don't really have that same demographic. There's some crossover but it's not the same.
When RDC did that Kai collab in "prison" their Twitch numbers really blew up but some of their fans thought it wasn't a good look. They've been leaning more into that streamer world so I knew DreamCon would get watered down.
Black anime fans were dealing with racism at those conventions which is why Dreamcon was so important.

Fanum has been playing gta on his gaming channel for the last 5 months, let alone his bigger channel which has few gaming videos aside from more gta and duke dennis plays nothing but 2k. Agent might play an indie game here and there. RDC plays all kinds of nerd games. They are not remotely the same.

The only difference is they have more money to do bigger things and bring more content creators.
The only game RDC really has played for the past years is Mario kart and gang beasts. They suck at everything else
Duke Dennis plays sports games, agent 0 plays sports games, those are the only two I keep up with and those two I e seen with berleezy and them bros and RDC. Hello I put yourrage in the same category as duke and agent 0.
But I don't keep up with all of AMP like that except for when they do stuff like the athletics with RDC.
