This exactly. Dude is legit one of my favorite emcees now. He’s reminding me of Jay mixed with Prodigy mixed with an Evidence or Roc Marci.Dope so far. I came in expecting no drums and just straight loops, which is Jay's style. Boldy's rhymes continue to improve. When I go back and listen to My First Chemistry Set, while I love that album (and think it's one of Alchemist's best, beat wise) you can hear him running into walls with his bars. Punchlines not hitting, not actually rhyming, etc. But he's got a flow and rhyme pattern down now and it just...works with that voice.

Please give Tea in China another listen. Beat for beat it’s not as dope as the 2013 album, but bar-wise it’s way leveled up, and the track sequencing is immaculate. This shyt is not good at all .....best boldy joint is the alc shyt in 2013...this shyt wack
Some people tell me say I sound Prodigy...I take that as a compliment I been mobbin deep
I love Boldy whole run

I know you were talking to @Piff Perkins and not me, but you really think Boldy was as dope in 2013 as he is in 2020? I think he even said he was fukking with lean too much and wasn’t as sharp back then.I couldn't disagree more with the bolded. Boldy murdered every verse on that album effortlessly to me. Tea In China is insane too.
I'm not one of these people that complains about drumless beats or whatever. But these beats sound straight up unfinished. Just seems like a waste of dope lyrics. Boldy is one of my favorite rappers though, so maybe it'll grow on me.

I think I like the lyrics on Chemistry Set more than Piff does, but to me there’s a CLEAR step up in rhyming abilities in the Chemistry Set and the Tea in China/Boldface recording sessions. Maybe it was him getting clean, or maybe he just got better. Maybe both.
The only issue I had with Chemistry Set is I thought it was too long. On most songs Boldy used the three 16-bar verse format, and back then I didn’t think he was a dope enough emcee to keep me engaged for that long. Even now, most of the verses on his last 4 projects (Boldface, Tea, Manger, and Versace) are 2 verses and done.
I do agree these Versace Tape instrumentals sound mad fukkin lazy and unfinished. We agree there big time.
@TheDarceKnight people in the YouTube comments was saying Alchemist produced that Free 80
Spitta and Boldy done and on the way
