I can see why you say that becuz of the era it was in. But it set the blueprint for other movies to follow. A group of young black men coming of age in the hood

I have no idea when it became cool to hate on Boyz N The Hood, but I still love it. Lawrence Fishburne and Ice Cube’s characters really make the movie. Always makes my heart feel a little heavy at the end when Doughboy fades away and the caption tells you he got murdered.

It’s kinda preachy, I’ll admit that, but shyt… a little sincerity never hurt anyone.

I wasn't talking about you specifically, or anyone in this thread, it's just something I've seen whenever the movie is brought up.

It's not my favorite hood movie - that's Friday, and then probably Juice right after it - but it deserves a lot more credit than some people give it.

Cuba Gooding and Morris Chestnut seemed out of place but they didn't ruin the movie. More Angela Bassett for what? The storyline didn't call for needing more of her. The movie is fine how it is.

Bruh he was dead already when Doughboy and the squad pulled up. Why would they go to the hospital?

This movie was the perfect representation of a coming of age tale about growing up in Southern California in the 80s-early 90s. It wasn’t exploitive and was well crafted. Don’t know how you saw this masterpiece of black cinema as overrated
