This is basically conceding that Republicans now have a nuclear option whenever they have control during government shutdowns :francis:
They can just weaponize SNAP funding and basically get anything they want passed
If another shutdown occurs in January the biggest difference here is that he can't use SNAP funding as leverage since it'll be legally funded until September 30th of 2026, right before midterms.

The Dems caving is to protect SNAP recipients from any more suffering but also to stop Trump and his administration from weaponizing the program as leverage. So now, in January, if a shutdown happens again, the focus will solely be on healthcare and the ACA credits.

Without much leverage, I imagine that if that shutdown were to happen, it would be much shorter than this one simply because Trump and Republicans won't have much leverage to deviate from the discussion of the ACA. After all, that's what happened in this shutdown. It became less about the ACA subsidies and more about SNAP being funded for November, when that wasn't the reason for the shutdown in the first place.

Realize that they were only ready to cave when airlines started canceling flights and it was hurting airlines bottom line. It shows you who they truly respect as constituents and it’s no everyday people. Millions of people are about to be priced out of healthcare because of this and when the vote comes out for this in the future they will fight even less if business interests are not impacted.

Facts. I been saying this. America has too many divisions to ever be a functional cohesive country.

White vs black
Republican vs democrat
Rich vs poor
Baby boomers vs younger generations

The baby boomers have utterly destroyed Americas future. They voted for the neoliberals and “reaganomics” and when those policies inevitably backfired, they voted to bail themselves out through money printing and made us foot the bill by stealing our future through inflation. They’re the most selfish generation of humans to ever live :wow:
It's why the only sensible thing to do is to split the country up. We're a powder keg and everyone is too busy fighting each other to recognize only a small group of people are benefiting.

We aren't really a country, there isn't an identity that unites us, it's just people here to make money.

Your exact words:

Jeffries’s and Schumer acting like they didn’t organize this vote. These people were hand selected to vote for this bill.

Schumer nor Jeffries support the deal...Schumer didn't organize the vote either

This is politics!

And as someone who once worked in partnership with local, state and federal governments, you have no idea what goes into political strategy, policymaking and communication.
So, someone just posted evidence this is untrue. In fact, it should have been obvious this is untrue. Outside of Fetterman, these are established and establishment senators. They are not free spirited rogues. They are as status quo and safe as you can imagine.

None of them are going to go around the leader and vote differently without his tacit approval. It should have been obvious to anyone with any sense of reasonable skepticism that leadership gave a wink and nod for them to do this.

Not just airlines, many retail corporations (ie: Amazon) need airline capacity for their same/next day delivery guarantees
You're spot on, once the air traffic controllers and TSA started impacting the airlines shyt flipped quick

@O.T.I.S. stop being a bytch and accept the dnc is a party full of cowards and sell outs

Mamdani didn’t just win an election. He exposed the game.
Democrats lose on purpose when real change threatens their donors.
They’d rather hand power to the right than risk empowering workers.

it should be obvious now more than ever there is no party that is not beholden to corporate interests above everything else.

fukk is this.

I don’t care what you think of aoc, mamdani, sanders, etc. their individual sins, are minor to the bigger fight which is that there is some elite a$$holes who want to have all the power and want you with none. That’s it. Anything else at this point is a distraction and getting rid of their political stooges in government is the top priority.

The rich and elites and this includes some of their supposed “liberal” bought politicians prefer Trump and straight fascism in government than someone who dares to be a European style progressive. Mamdani election couldn’t make this more clear. Had democrats fighting him harder than republicans.

It’s a top down fight more than left and right. Left and right is fomented to keep you from looking up.

You are not wrong. It’s like Casino movie when the old mob guys sent Andy Stone to tell Sam, it’s time he ended his crusade against the gaming officials.

Remember when inflation was 7% in 2021 and 6.5% in 2022...it didn't matter that it dropped to 2.9% in an election year

Hammer home the messaging...bc affordability is a winning issue...and if ACA is not extended, affordability is still front & center

Affordability will force independents back to the center and away from the radical right

Continue making this a class issue...billionaire class vs working class

Ppl are seeing and feeling the disastrous results of GOP policies every damn day

They're just going to blame it on the Democrats/DEI/illegals and go right back to voting for Republicans next election

People gotta give up thinking this country will ever change :yeshrug:

you know that the vote/negotiation over obamacare is in december, right?

yeah, it's probably gonna go up, but being on obamacare is not "a democrat thing". even marjorie taylor greene is on the news talking about how her daughter is on it. and if obamacare goes, then everyone on private insurance gets fukked with rates going up as well

so yeah, having republicans in power for this is not ideal, but it's not remotely set in stone that the subsidies are totally going away

and frankly, if republicans fukk the country on obamacare, democrats probably steamroll them in 2026 and 2028. and republicans KNOW that

Democrats protecting the country from themselves with absolutely no thanks or gratitude meanwhile Progressives still hate their guts for any and everything. Gotta love our great country.

America is just one big casino built by black people and all the immigrants and locals are trying to get in on the games and move to the white folks table.
