Better hope antitrust does it's job and blows this up. This is blatant monopoly shyt and will be used to destroy theater experiences. Netflix has been trying to do this for years too.

I would also hope that if this goes through, the next dem DOJ/AG nuke the fukk out of this deal.

As long as this stops MAGA, "antitrust" laws can go on the back burner.

Holy fukk MAGA isn't even trying to hide their bullshyt.

Wonder what will happen to AEW.
They’ll probably be good until their current deal expires but after that I’m sure WWE has a clause in place that Netflix can’t air any other wrestling promotions under their umbrella.

Can't see Max existing anymore and I don't think anybody talking so far knows enough to say whether Netflix has to honor any of WBD's prior business (ie moving AEW to Netflix from Max)

They can't be doing much streaming wise because all of Max itself isn't. That said, even if business has changed for Netflix, Nick Khan & Ari Emmanuel obviously knew the possibility of Netflix acquiring them through WBD. So I don't think it's just as simple as "business has changed, prior agreements are out the window" especially when it's direct deals with the one doing the acquiring.

Whatever Netflix does isn't their main problem, main problem is they're not getting Warner Bros TV bucks anymore. Whoever buys the networks probably won't be WB size or bigger and that'll have impact more than anything else.

Better than a MAGA/Saudi team up buying it but this is such a bad look overall.

Too many mergers and acquisitions in one industry is going to fukk consumers over. Big companies buying shyt just to own valuable ip and they sit on it forever without producing a thing. You thought things moved slow before? The future is ugly.

Why? Trump will blow it up and allow Ellison and those Saudi Ragheads to buy and have an indefinite hold with their right wing propaganda...

Netflix meddling in HBO is bad for TV series.

not that HBO is the quality it once was either, but the way Netflix handles their series is absolute trash.

anyway I expect Trump admin to block if so his boy can get it lol

It would be better for WBD, Netflix can use existing infrastructure to create more shows, the Ellisons have been a disaster for Paramount and they are ultra racist to boot...fukk em...

Yea you're probably right actually....

Netflix is claiming they'll commit to theater runs but I just don't believe it. This will be a typical corporate lie where you don't make any changes for a couple years, then implement your bullshyt in year 3. Three to four week theater runs or something. This year was a good example of why theaters are coming back so hard. Sinners had such an amazing run...I saw it like four or five times in theaters lol. Long run, lots of buzz, constant social media chatter, and then guess what? The minute it was announced to be hitting HBO Max it got another massive rush of buzz/going viral. It was a perfect rollout to streaming because it had built momentum. Imagine if it just got dumped on Netflix or Max after two weeks in theaters. Then the headlines would be about how the film wasn't on track to break even.

Same with One Battle After Another. Saw that multiple times and it kept building momentum in theaters. Kept rolling with the word of mouth, reviews etc. That shyt would have been buried on streaming. 3 hour film? Nah it would be dead. Instead the theater run made its streaming debut a big success because it spent months building anticipation.
