As Netflix cancels show left and right there will definitely be some losses taken. I need to step my pirate game up

Yea you're probably right actually....

Netflix is claiming they'll commit to theater runs but I just don't believe it. This will be a typical corporate lie where you don't make any changes for a couple years, then implement your bullshyt in year 3. Three to four week theater runs or something. This year was a good example of why theaters are coming back so hard. Sinners had such an amazing run...I saw it like four or five times in theaters lol. Long run, lots of buzz, constant social media chatter, and then guess what? The minute it was announced to be hitting HBO Max it got another massive rush of buzz/going viral. It was a perfect rollout to streaming because it had built momentum. Imagine if it just got dumped on Netflix or Max after two weeks in theaters. Then the headlines would be about how the film wasn't on track to break even.

Same with One Battle After Another. Saw that multiple times and it kept building momentum in theaters. Kept rolling with the word of mouth, reviews etc. That shyt would have been buried on streaming. 3 hour film? Nah it would be dead. Instead the theater run made its streaming debut a big success because it spent months building anticipation.

It will be extremely limited theater only runs before we know it. I look at Frankenstein as the blueprint: In the theater for opening weekend and then on Netflix the following Friday.

Yeah I don't get wanting this deal blown up when the other options are what they are. Wanting theaters to exist is cool but there's a clear shift in how most choose to consume media. I don't think it's something to fight. Rather, it's worthless fighting it. Just like it's worthless being on cable unless you're sports

They'll 100% move big budget movie to streaming in time and probably charge a fee on top of the sub for them in place of the movie ticket. And I don't think most will be upset

Took out Blockbuster and will eventually take out theaters, nobody saw it coming

These mfers started off mailing you a dvd hoping you would send it back! :damn: Block Buster with the L of the century.

YouTube taking off in 05 definitely inspired Netflix to go the digital route and the rest is history.

Its over when they starve AMC and Regal even further, then buy them out of bankruptcy, and open Netflix theaters with a $40/month membership fee you can add to your netflix membership, bringing your total to $99.99/mo, with ads
100%

I don't even wanna watch ugly ass Netflix productions on the big screen
