thats a good point but here's the thing though....its not particularly Lebron. anything less than the Finals this year and they were talking about breaking the team up. Lebron been to the Finals all these years...this was the most vulnerable his teams have looked, so the pressure was on the Raps, if you let the media tell it. Yet the Raptors overachieved in the regular season, mainly because the Cavs, Bucks, Wiz, Pistons, all underachieved.

Casey got instantly fired because of the sweep. So what if the Raps wouldve lost in 7? does that make Casey a better coach? still going home. so whether they got swept or not was irrelevant to me because his job was not guaranteed unless he came out of the East. if they wouldve lost to the Pacers wouldve been the same thing. it looked bad because Pacers had Cavs on the ropes and then Cavs swept the team with the best record.

Casey did a great job with what he had. Raps just dont have a strong roster design against the Cavs. Franchise record in wins though. What Ujeri shouldve worried about was getting a 3rd star instead of building this bench. Like Barkley said, you dont win with the bench...you win with your starters. Raptors are soft, they dont have a Draymond or Marcus Smart. They just didnt look like they had any fight in them.

Remember when the Chargers had those great records all those years? Schottenheimer's last year I think they went like 15-3. All those years, they could never get past the Patriots though. They fired him and hired Norv Turner. Aint been shyt since. Marty couldve eventually led them to the Super Bowl.

Toronto better hope they dont slide back into mediocrity and become the NBA's version of the Chargers.

u can't depend on a bunch of 19 and 20 year old bench players in the playoffs to beat lebron
a third star who is equal or preferably better den both derozen and lowry is needed on this team to be any kind of serious threat
massai hasn't been aggressive in trying to bring another star here

They sort of had to, I suppose. You can't bring back the entire team and coach next year and hope for different results. Lowry and Derozan aren't going anywhere... Casey was sort of the easiest fix.

It was the coach who got them to adopt a new system, to get and use a strong bench..

Weak GM move at the wrong moment

Obviously nobody would pay full price for Lowry or DeRozan, but someone had to be let go/traded/something..

This bad management move will very likely later be looked at as one of the key reasons why the Raptors never got close to a Final

Reading this thread it’s clear that a lot of y’all didn’t actually watch Raptors games. The team had some glaring bad habits that persisted from year to year to year. Little things that become magnified into big things in the playoffs. That’s why Casey was fired.

I've prob watched like 95% of raptors game since 1995, any coach could have won the same amount of games as casey did. How many times over the years did we see his horrible rotations,h ow many time did we scream to play a james johnson or norm powell, or to change the stupid iso derozan offense.

Even the few times casey got out the first round even as a top 3 seed it was always 6 or 7 games. He won ONE game 1 and that was this year against the wizards. Dude never drew plays it was always nurse or kalamian, and his excuse was always he same were the better team just have to execute better make more shots bla bla

I love the whole but casey won anyone would have won, casey first two seasons were horrible and when masai took over he was well within his right to can him, folks forget how horrible the raptors were that season and lowry would have been traded to the knicsk but dolan stepped in and once they traded rudy gay for John Salmons, Greivis Vasquez, Patrick Patterson and Chuck Hayes the raptors favor turned this had NOTHING to do with casey

They had the 1 seed last year and the 2 seed this year. I know for a fact they didn't have a top 2 seed the previous years. This isn't even comparable to Toronto and Dwane Casey. I don't even care about his record against LeBron. You can't look at the roster they had last year and expect them to beat Cleveland. Why should Brad Stevens be on the hot seat because of his record against LeBron?

Easy, first round loss (bron sweep) ,second round loss (hawks ). ECF home court (bron 4-1 almost sweep) not mention they were looking shaky as fukk against the bulls as a 1v8 seed before rondo got hurt. (Down 0-2)

So when he has another ecf home court loss on his record this year how many chances should this dude get for being a regular season over achiever?

This guy is currently 1-8 against LeBron teams and looks like he might be 2-12 in a week or so. That's the same as Casey.

He literally has a losing record in the playoffs.
Next year will probably be his best shot and I'm not sure he will make it to the finals then either.

Casey ain't install shyt, that was purely Nick Nurses's doing.
That bench? Their development is the result of Stackhouse
