Forget Kobe.
Durant shoots 50% from the field and he doesn't stat pad like Bron and Wade. Durant takes good looks whether he's hot or not. He throws up shots at the end of halves. He doesn't play the game to protect his fg% the way Bron/Wade do.
Respond to that. The issue here isn't about taking high percentage shots. The issue is the fact that Bron/Wade would rather not take a half court heave at the end of quarters because they want to shoot 50%, rather than possibly making that low percentage shot and getting their team 3 more points in the game.
That is the POINT. Stop this straw man argument. I think Kobe plays the wrong way alot of time as well when he takes contested shots when his teammates are open and he's cold. But its also bad when you pass up good looks in the flow of the game because you think the likelihood is high you'll miss the shot and you don't want to hurt your fg% at the end of the game.
That sort of mindset is EMBARRASSING. Period. Players shouldn't play the game with the box score in mind. Players should play the game with winning in mind. If throwing up a half court heave at the end of quarters helps your team win the game then you should do it. Even if that means you sacrifice your own personal stats.
