I have a Pi 3 with Retro Pie. Works fine. Not too hard and a lot of guides out there walk you through step by step.

Started a build 2 months ago. Gonna run Hyperspin off a PC. 4 player control panel with led buttons and some custom side artwork. Having a lot fun doing it and learning a lot about woodwork, but don't think I would do it again.

Very cool. I bought a Raspberry Pi a few years to make it an emulator, could never figure the shyt out though.

I'm working on one too. Seems like the cabinet building community is growing online due to the retropie. I have my games all set up for the most part, and my MDF boards have been jigsawes out.
Taking it a weekend at a time, should be putting the frame together this weekend.

This is convenient, in one of my classes we're gonna use rhapsody pi for a project, great to know I can still re purpose it later for emulators.

This is my material list so far. Got pricing from Bestbuy, Home Depot, and Amazon. So far it's looking a little more expensive than I had hoped for this build but not a huge deal.
I'm in the middle of converting my garage into a full recording studio so this project will be a few weeks before I would even be able to start it.

Yessir, exactly, 32" lcd, black t-molding along the front edge. Hoping to build the control panel this week.
