BYD releases battery that fully charges in 5 minutes with a range of 300 miles. Tesla’s newest battery was 4 years ago. Edit: Goes on sale next month.

Elon spends his entire day playing video games and being a white supremacist. This is not shocking at all

Spent a good amount of time talking to BYD yesterday. Currently they have no confidence they will be able to sell those cars in the USA. Their battery tech is here already in a limited capacity but that’s it.

Personal opinion is that they will try to bribe Trump through back channels but Elon is there too and will use his cash to fight it. So who knows at this point.

Breh it’s geopolitics. People laughing about the fall of the US aren’t willing to migrate to China. I don’t want a world where China dominates. Ask Africans.

:dahell: This is a joke right? Africa welcomes China with open arms. Do you have any idea the harm the U.S. and Western Europe have done to Africa?

Sure. We just have to make get married and make 250K between the partners to stay out of debt, have a decent standard of living, save for retirement, and enjoy life a bit. Anything under that amount…
:damn:
Or 100k if you go through life single and don’t want a family. If all Americans can get to that standard, we all can afford the 50K EV cars. We need more housing supply to bring these prices down so people can afford to rent/buy.

It’s hard out here.

Just because the West has a history of atrocities in African doesn’t mean China is a friend. Just this week:

China has been doing the same exploitative infrastructure contracts too

People drooling over China's "cheap" EVs seem blissfully ignorant of why they're so cheap, and how massive government subsidies, state-backed overproduction (the state practically owns these companies), and straight up slave labor makes it possible.

Do you really? A lot of you don't seem to understand the trade-offs here. Do you want autoworkers over here to make a living wage? Do you support strong unions? Or do we want the complete destruction of what remains of the auto industry? Chinese EVs are heavily subsidized, and if they flooded the US market, they'd undercut American and even other foreign automakers, forcing mass layoffs and factory closures.

I don't know, but I've come to strongly believe in protectionism these past few years, but not in the way that protects corporate interests, but ideally one where trade enforcement is tied to actual domestic investment, where companies that benefit from protections are required to reinvest in US production, pay fair wages, and respect workers right to organize.

You act like there aren't european countries with strong unions and a domestic auto manufacturing industry that don't allow EV's from china to be told there.

Germany, France, and Italy all have autoworkers making a living wage.

c'mon breh, where was your laptop , phone and tv made? Maybe they can invest in electric vehicle tech and charging infrastructure in the US instead of a 4 trillion tax break
Except the naughty child wing of the Democratic Party is anti-car sooooooo who are we building these chargers for???
