that doesnt make sense, as black people watch movies about apartheid, the clan, and skin heads all the time

the real reason not to watch is the modern agenda forced into historical fiction movie

Didn't these nikkas fight to keep slavery?

:gucci:
Yep fukk Dahomey

As one of West Africa's principal slave states, Dahomey became extremely unpopular with neighbouring peoples.[76][77][78] Like the Bambara Empire to the east, the Khasso kingdoms depended heavily on the slave trade for their economy. A family's status was indicated by the number of slaves it owned, leading to wars for the sole purpose of taking more captives. This trade led the Khasso into increasing contact with the European settlements of Africa's west coast, particularly the French.[79] Benin grew increasingly rich during the 16th and 17th centuries on the slave trade with Europe; slaves from enemy states of the interior were sold, and carried to the Americas in Dutch and Portuguese ships. The Bight of Benin's shore soon came to be known as the "Slave Coast".[80]

King Gezo of Dahomey said in the 1840s:

The slave trade is the ruling principle of my people. It is the source and the glory of their wealth...the mother lulls the child to sleep with notes of triumph over an enemy reduced to slavery...[81]

In 1807, the UK Parliament passed the Bill that abolished the trading of slaves. The King of Bonny (now in Nigeria) was horrified at the conclusion of the practice:

We think this trade must go on. That is the verdict of our oracle and the priests. They say that your country, however great, can never stop a trade ordained by God himself.[82]

The movie is clearly propaganda which will likely work on people that don't know the history of savage ass Dahomey. The truth about Dahomey is that they were sellout nikkas that weren't shyt and responsible for the murder and enslavement of hundreds of thousands if not millions of people including some of your own relatives if you are of African heritage. I guess next they will make a romantic comedy about slave life on plantations. It will no doubt be fantastic from an artistic standpoint.

Y’all are cool with that new dope rap record rapping about about shooting, stabbing and selling drugs to nikkas but a movie depicting blacks as independent badasses killing Europeans is crossing the line?

Don’t make me laugh :laff:

Almost all coastal African tribes sold slaves. Some of them you are descended from.

Inconvenient truth huh?

Doesn’t make this movie any less pro black stylistically.

:childplease:

Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing the reactions of Yoruba to this movie. Dahomey really sought to sell the Yoruba nation into slavery.

Yoruba language and religion is prominent still in the Americas in large part due to timing.

Afonja betrayed Ilorin and doomed the Oyo Empire in the early 19th century. A huge flood of Yoruba people hit slave markets across the Americas late.

In contrast, the nadir of Africans sent from Senegal, Angola/Congo, the Lower Niger etc. happened in the 18th century.

The same military science that was used against other ethnic groups in Africa - was also used against the French, British, and Spanish during the Haitian revolution.

Yes - there were other ethnic groups involved in the Haitian Revolution, but the Dahomey was the dominant group in the rebellion.

Dessalines was raised by a Dahomey woman and she was given a state funeral when she died in 1804.

In fact - the Dahomey king sent soldiers to Haiti under the administration of King Henri Christophe.

Christophe was a great believer in discipline. He brought African warriors from Dahomey (present-day Benin), whom he dubbed Royal Dahomets. They served as the primary agents of his authority. Incorruptible and intensely loyal to Christophe, the Dahomets brought order to the countryside.

Many people were dissatisfied with the strictness of Christophe's regime. As productivity and export levels rose, however, the quality of their lives improved in comparison with revolutionary and immediately post-revolutionary days.
Honestly bro, you should be a black history teacher.

Thanks

I’m going to definitely watch it now.

I really start to start reading threads before responding. I didn’t know the awful history.
