No sambo, you're the type who gives a shyt what they think of you, most of us don't want to be 'invited out' or want to attend any social functions with them. We know how to keep it cordial and keep it moving.

Playing nice? We know how to conduct ourselves in the workplace, no one is saying to get out of character or acting aggressive or belligerent to white coworkers (unless they're confrontational themselves). The majority of responses is dealing with passive aggressive cacs (which most of them predominantly are) and using our coping skills to adjust to their behavior. You're the type to kiss their ass on the regular, they still talk shyt about you behind your back and shyt on you bc you set no boundaries; then come promotion time, you're still sitting there in the same job position for the past 10 years, training your next supervisor, looking stupid wondering why you're not making any progress despite all the cac butt you had your lips on. stfu.. obvious c00n is obvious.

I don't go out of my way to kiss no one's ass, for anything ever. but if someone wants to have small office talk, blah I don't give a fukk I'll play along. it ain't hurting anyone. and guess what? you might actually find out that bill in HR is a decent dude, and guess what? he likes the same football team you do, or that karen the secretary has a son that you went to high school with or whatever.

They have nothing better to do but issue HOA violations/emails for leaving my trash can out too long after a garbage pick up or not trimming my hedges..

I learned how to shoot the shyt with these people without actually telling them anything. Engage enough with them and keep it light and detail-free.

Every time they pry I flip it into a joke slyly making fun of them and they never get it.

Thing is I do my job well so I've always gotten away with not playing into workplace cultures. Most of my office work experience is back office so most interactions are on e-mail and phone rarely. They need my skills they don't have to like me. I get my work done and I go home. I take lunch after everyone to avoid tag alongs. I don't fetch nothing for anyone when I'm out... I had a cac throw a hissy fit because I wouldn't grab coffee with him

I hang with a few co-workers but they have been vetted for at least 6 months beforehand. I've always been good with my higher ups. Most of them will tell me they respect my no nonsense attitude behind closed doors. If you are good at what you do you don't have to pander along to the conventional bullshyt cultures of many work places. Just set your precedents early don't switch up after you been the nice guy that talks to everyone. I always feel sorry for nikkaz that show up at work and think everyone is their homie then they gone in a flash cuz they got too comfortable

i limit my interactions as much as i can wit cacs...

anyway, i moved across the country for this job im at now.. all the cacs are because theyve never had a black man in their workplace, so they all have questions n shyt

anyway, one clown plays Illmatic whenever im around him, another one has to point out the 'one time i went to this black jamaican bar', another old white cac who calls me 'brother'... they always be wondering what i do for fun, my views on social matters etc

basically a whole lotta cringey shyt from cacs who never grew up around any blacks..

these motherfukkers hit me up in the lunchroom one day talking bout, "Mood God, whats your story?", "you moved across the country, have no social media and we never hear about your weekends...."

i just smirk and eat my lunch while changing the topic to some dumb shyt like dikk jokes for their lame cac humor
