Just stop buying Jordans and chains and you'll be able to buy a house :troll:

:bryan:

But I blame foreign investors buying up all the land, all the people that like year round warmth in Cali, all the people having mad kids and expect the mass of livable land to increase, these greedy tech heads hoarding up all the wealth, the Hollywood people and execs greed, the weedheads, the false dreamers thinking they gonna make it in Hollywood, and so on.

Basically, limited land and excess greed ans entitlements ruined it for most people.

google is a cornerstone of the tech industry here, they're one of the critical companies that kicked off the second tech boom, they don't need to leave or create out-of state campuses (which they already have). as for other companies, the issue is the VC money is still here, there's a reason that even with tech hubs popping up in places like Austin, San Diego, DMV, Pittsburg, even NY's tech scene - the growth and success of the companies don't rival that of those out here. The money that's funding tech is out here, the people who have strong track records in tech (think those who found million/billion dollar success in the first boom or early in this second wave) all also stayed out here, these people become critical to the success of new startups, they become advisors, investors and introduce founders to other investors/VC's. if the funding were to spread out, tech might grow more equitably in more states/metros and ease the crunch in the bay.

my girl has a biotech startup in chicago and is out here 4-6 times a year trying to raise money, it's much easier to just move here and have round the clock, ongoing opportunities for networking and funding when trying to kick your business off.
This, I used to be in VC group meetings. The money in Cali is next tier. No one can compete.

no disrespect to you personally, but this that goofy slave shyt. its not about working harder , but working smarter.

why work your ass off and toil away @ one spot , when you work just as hard, and get twice the rewards some where else???

No offense taken. I happen know from first hand experience that those that have strong work ethic, but choose to work smarter tend to do quite well for themselves out here. City life is also way more receptive to supporting start-ups and small businesses. My wife just quit her job and is in the process of building her's up right now. People clown, but I still got plenty of folks within short drives of me. The bay area has rent control, which means that landlords can't raise rents on pre-existing tenants. My cousin's landlord was trying to sell, and my cousin was able to petition the city to buy the house as a historic landmark, and converted it into a rent controlled property for the next hundred years. Having a large piece of property doesn't automatically translate into a higher quality of living for lots of us. I'm in a very bike and public transit friendly area just a couple blocks from the water with tons of options for grocery shopping, eating out, and high quality general necessities at reasonable prices (three Targets within 5 miles) I sure as hell couldn't live in the suburbs tbh. And while owning a home is the american dream, let's be honest, lots of people aren't ready to handle the responsibilities of owning one.

Moving here to the bay is a whole nother story though.

I'm not so sure about this. As much as I think UBI is necessary and inevitable at some point, this government will probably not cave any time soon. This country is very much sold on propaganda surrounding labor and income as well as vilifying any form of personal subsidies like welfare. There's just so much ideology one has to break down to even get a dialogue about society in a country where we stress so much "rugged individualism", revere capitalism as the sacred cow and see any new forms of socialism as leading us down the path to Stalinism.

I'm in a sweet spot right now, paying 750 for 2bd 2ba condo in a great neighborhood. But my seeds can't go to school or daycare because they wanna force vaccines on us. Once the rent gets crazy, I'm going down south.

they don't have religious exemption there? usually you just have to write on piece of paper that it's against your religion, at least if the school is public

we went on a delayed schedule for vaccines and the doctor said that was cool initially, now when their deadline comes for the hep C vaccination they say we can't come if we don't get it

Do they approach other households with these offers?:mjpls:
They try to buy into wherever they can, especially close to Apple. My wife’s relatives are the only African Americans in thier cul-de-sac that was once all white. They are now surrounded by Asians. We figure it’s probably relatives of the others trying to get that prime spot and trying to deal directly with them and take advantage since they are elderly. They are old as fuk but still sharp...they won’t even open the door when they come knocking...

So,they gonna let the 99% not have any disposable income and let their own businesses suffer? We got the likes of Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk advocating Basic Income.
