because hes really not a better emcee. I just give him the nod as a better artist because of his 1st 2 albums. and to be real, the beats were better than the raps. not to mention that raekwon outshined him on ironman, and theres controversies concerning the writing for supreme clientele.

The response is that it all makes sense b/c Cam is referencing insider knowledge that only a select few who are really out there hustling know. and its not just hustler terminology. its a combination of slang & innuendo concerning sports, drugs & entertainment. and just hood chit in general. but its not just dumbed-down general references that everybody can understand. you have to be in-the-know.

for example, theres a lot of cam fans that aren't into sports like that so chit gets lost in translation with them. then theres dudes that don't understand the drug/hustling chit, the way he puts it. then theres those that aren't really street like that, etc. I know a lot of girls that like cam, but I used to have to explain some of the lines that just sounded nice to them.

theres people that don't even know what a flea-flicker is, and just dismissed it as jibber-jabber.

How am I deflecting if its not my claim?
I appreciate the more nuanced breakdown though.
Let's take that first verse of Girls for example...that to me is a verse where the focus seems to be more on making multis then on making sense. I understand what he's getting at with every line (other than the fun pass reference). But the verse does seem like a series of non-sequiturs, now 90% of rap is a series of non-sequiturs - but you get the idea though.

For example - might notice/white lotus (I'm assuming thats a club or something similar)/type bogus/quite focused. He's just doing what he needs to do to get the multis - it makes sense - but he's not really trying to say anything there.
