lol. yea, that line was brutal. "plug ya ace/take ya girl, f*ck her face".:king:

what songs does he sound uninspired on?

"girls" was just a comedic track like "push it".

those ghost albums don't matter because they weren't relevant offline. that's the difference.

the bolded kinda sums up why I put ghost slightly ahead of cam.

because hes really not a better emcee. I just give him the nod as a better artist because of his 1st 2 albums. and to be real, the beats were better than the raps. not to mention that raekwon outshined him on ironman, and theres controversies concerning the writing for supreme clientele.

Ghost is an A level elite emcee. I'll get back to you on specific examples of songs where he sounds uninspired after I've relistened a second time. Off the top of my head - Harlem Streets.

youre right, but cam's influence spans over all types of rappers.

not just the weirdos on the tv screen.

why are you asking us for examples? yall are the ones making the claims!!!

are we supposed to read your minds to know what doesn't make sense to you?

The claim - although its not really my claim - is that Cam strings together a bunch of nonsensical gibberish. The response is that it all makes sense b/c Cam is referencing insider knowledge that only a select few who are really out there hustling know. So the ball is in your court really to provide some examples of this insider knowledge/terminology that is going over all of our heads.

i refuse to conform
Cam hasn't influenced anyone by himself. Dipset most likely did but Cam on his own didn't. And setting stupid trends like wearing pink and saying no homo don't count.

no i just was just saying that him influenceing big sean and all these weirdos like big sean is not a godo thing being that they get flack for not being lyrical and being weirdos.

YOURE DEFLECTING.

AGAIN, we're not the ones making outlandish claims. so why do you want us to post examples? EXAMPLES OF WHAT!? 90% of cam's discography? thats ridiculous and a waste of time.

if you think something is gibber, then post it. simple as that. youre the one making the case. if you cant state your claim, then its over. no point made.

and its not just hustler terminology. its a combination of slang & innuendo concerning sports, drugs & entertainment. and just hood chit in general. but its not just dumbed-down general references that everybody can understand. you have to be in-the-know.

for example, theres a lot of cam fans that aren't into sports like that so chit gets lost in translation with them. then theres dudes that don't understand the drug/hustling chit, the way he puts it. then theres those that aren't really street like that, etc. I know a lot of girls that like cam, but I used to have to explain some of the lines that just sounded nice to them.

theres people that don't even know what a flea-flicker is, and just dismissed it as jibber-jabber.

Jigga with the Roley and the Vest
2 classic albums, 3 classic mixtapes, 1 classic group album, 3 other good-great albums. Was one of the most influential rappers, invented group mixtapes the way we know it now, putting rappers on etc...

Name 5 other rappers to debut in the last 15 years that have accomplished this much with this much quality music

I aint reading 15 pages of this thread but this if this aint all fact :banderas:

i don't think cam influencing big sean wiz asap rocky etc is a good thing they are weirdos and i know u not suggesting cam a weirdo ? are you.

Nah. Cam wasn't a weirdo. I'm saying Cam was doing "Swag Rap" before we had a name for it. Mase did it too but, Cam did it better.

most people do not dress like kanye west.

kanye & drake are not regular nikkas.

Cmon, B. I remember those days very well.

That hipster, preppy look was NOT in style back in 2003. People thought Kanye was soft and didn't look like a rapper should look. Now everybody is a hipster. Now everybody looks like him.

And yes......Kanye, J. Cole and Drake are regular nikkas. You had to be a gangsta to rap before.

How am I deflecting if its not my claim?
I appreciate the more nuanced breakdown though.
Let's take that first verse of Girls for example...that to me is a verse where the focus seems to be more on making multis then on making sense. I understand what he's getting at with every line (other than the fun pass reference). But the verse does seem like a series of non-sequiturs, now 90% of rap is a series of non-sequiturs - but you get the idea though.

For example - might notice/white lotus (I'm assuming thats a club or something similar)/type bogus/quite focused. He's just doing what he needs to do to get the multis - it makes sense - but he's not really trying to say anything there.

Kanye has had a huge impact on hip-hop fashion. But the average cat today, does not dress like he does today.

If you're talking about this Kanye, Kanye in 2013, then yes I agree.....nobody dresses like this :russ:

But if we're talking about this Kanye, Kanye from 10 years ago, then no, I can't agree......plenty of black kids dress like this. Which I find hilarious because back then, we thought Kanye was the biggest herb for not wearing a 4XL shirt :deadrose:

Yep - we're saying the same thing. Most kids nowadays would consider those jeans baggy!
