You can make an argument for a lot of dumb shyt, be my guest.
But before you go there, unless you're old enough to have some perspective you need to study the subject at hand a little bit.
Case Study: Rakim.
Ask yourself why one of the most revered and respected rappers of all time didn't even really stick around long enough to be contemporaries with guys like Snoop/Pac/Cube on the level that you would expect...had nothing to do with talent or a "fall off", it had to do with progression and expansion all of which were pushed forward and accelerated largely because of his contributions as an MC.
The game started moving fast off his momentum and "left him behind" as far as the music industry goes. Real recognize real though.
Peace.

So you're saying he was left behind because he couldn't progress forward ?![]()
Who are the artist that you are referring too?technically they should be "better"
MUCH more modern access to music, styles, culture and the tools to learn from metaphors, language, slang etc via the Internet
Charisma is the thing that separates IMO, even when EVERYONE was a gangster on the west coast and everyone was a mafia don in the east they all had a unique spin on the theme
Too many cats are content to ride whatever hot wave everyone is on and do it the exact same way right now
I don't mind rolling up my sleeves and digging for new artists and music tho so it doesn't affect me much
Exactly,a lot of the golden era artist had to rely on females singing on hooks or the big male R&b artist of the time to make "catchy" music or music that appeal outside of the starving for bars rap nerdsLil Uzi "XO Tour Life" is an example of a record from today being outta the league of the golden age rappers... they could never create something as catchy or musical as that.... and I dont even like Uzi... but todays young nikkas are too catchy wit it.... too many flows... too many melodies.... so many hot beats.... its different... cant really compare the two cause theyre bringing different shyt to the table but I love the new shyt.

They are better at making music that women can ride out and vibe too.I know the whole "shyt on everything new and romanticize the past" thing is a popular stance here, but I do think rappers nowadays are a hair more dynamic. It's painful to say, but rap is a lot more dynamic now musically, with all the adlibs, singing, different flows etc. There has been progression too.
It sounds like it too, and they brag about how fast its done. Why does anyone want McHiphop?rap is so accessible anyone with a smartphone can learn to record a song & make beats within hours
Lmao @ almost everything being wrong in your opening paragraph...rappees weren't trying to sing back then and when they did, bone thugs harmonizing >>>> the autotune (lil and young everybody) , ear scratching (Cole, Sean) sounds being made today
