he was

ironic thing is, Meth stepped up even more post that though

he got better as an emcee on his Tical 2000 album; although that album had one too many skits

but as an emcee, he stepped up big time

but make no mistake about it, Liquod Swords is all GZA's show

that man was a wizard w/ word
I feel like all the guests on here went harder as they knew they were going up against GZA

Meth's verse on shadowboxin' is one of the greatest performances p4p, charisma oozing about as naturally as any MC to ever be recorded on wax.:wow:

Killah Hillz 10304 with a haunting beat and hypnotizing story telling :wow:

50 immigrants with fake fukking visas.

It's hella beats on this album that are perfect for freestyling

Whole fukking album sounding like the OST for golgo 13 on nes
I breaks it down to the bone gristle
Ill speakin' scud missile, heat-seekin'
Johnny Blazin', nightmares like Wes Craven
nikkas gunnin', my third eye seen it comin' before it happened
You know about them fukkin' Staten kids, they smashin'
Everything, huh, in any shape form or fashion
Now everybody talkin' 'bout they blastin', hmm
Is you bustin' steel or is you flashin'? Hmm
Talkin' out yo' a$$hole
You should have learnt about the flow and peasy Afro
Ticallion stallion, the chinky-eye and snot-nosed
From my naps to the bunion on my big toe
I keeps it movin', know just what the fukk I'm doin'
Rap insomniac, fiend to catch a nikka snoozin'
Slip the cardiac, arrest me, exorcist hip-hop possess me
Crunch a nikka like a Nestle, you know my steez
Burnin' to the third degree
Sneaky ass alley cat, top pedigree
The head toucher, industry party bum rusher
You don't like it? dikk up in you, fukk ya :picard::gucci:

do you hear how hard this shyt is?!!!!! :damn::damn::damn::damn:

Burial plots for my nikkas hit with fatal shots
There's no need for us to spray up the scene
I use less men, more powerful shyt for my team
Like my man, Muhammad from Afghanistan, grew up in Iran
The nikka runs a neighborhood newsstand
A wild Middle Eastern bomb specialist
Initiated at eleven to be a terrorist
He set bombs in bottles of champagne
And when nikkas popped the cork, nikkas lost half they brains

:wow: :wow:

most of his albums are pretty good, except for the debut. of course liquid swords is his only great one but the other ones arent bad
I disagree they need the RZA exclusive producing like Liquid Swords, closest would be Grandmasters
I think the cover makes people believe the album is better than it really is

Bought it in 1998 my freshman year of high school and to this day it's one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever.

Everybody was in a zone on that shyt...

B.I.B.L.E. as the conclusion of Liquid Swords made it so powerful.
:wow:
technically that's the bonus, swordsmen or I Gotcha Back ends it.

Man shout out to OP, because of this thread I been bumping this album since and I'm loving it nh.

I got the special edition LP package version of this that came out a few years ago with the chessboard and all that. Last time I checked it was selling for around 2/300, I this was years ago
need to cop that off discogs

I get what you're saying.

I listen to 36 Chambers, OB4CL, & Ironman more than I listen to this one.

Nobody wants to say it, but the reason you're not as into it is that it doesn't have "bangers", or whatever the Wu-Tang equivolent of a banger is.

There's no "C.R.E.A.M." or "Ice Cream" or "Daytona 500" or "Triumph" on it.

It's just solid workmanlike hip-hop.

If you're not predisposed to be into sort of cold-weather East Coast beats, then it's easy to get bored by it.

Also, GZA isn't as charismatic as Meth, Rae, Ghost, or ODB.

Those dudes could've been stars even without Wu.

I think it's a 4 Mic record. "Shadowboxin" is one of the best tracks of the '90s & eventually, I think you'll get it.

It's a record that has to sink in. Each lyric is intricate. Every beat matches the mood. It's the rap equivalent of a gritty crime drama directed by Scorsese

I've always felt like the solo records were better than all the collective records outside of 36 Chambers :manny:

Yeah, all Koalas got gonorrhea, if I'm not mistaken.

Workman like hip hop is a good way to put it. Liquid Swordz is a Carhartt jacket:russ:

And yes GZA has no charisma and nobody mentions this when they wonder why nokkas don't love LS like they do. The cover is not good, and although the songs are great, they kind of blend together in a way the other mentioned Wu albums dont

Saying this album is a lyrical miracle album is insane. It's almost the opposite. GZA even said "make it brief son, half short and twice strong."

GZA had crazy vivid imagery in his bars, and witty punchlines and metaphors, but he was never on some over the top "spiritual miracle lyrical in my swimming pool."

I almost can't think of a worse description for GZA's rap style.
