Can someone explain why black people should root for teams instead of players?

fukk these bandwagon bytches looking for excuses, let me ask y'all a question. WHen your favorite team (of that season :shaq:) win the chip and your corny ass trying to be happy, you wonder why you not as excited as you thought you would be?

Spurs 4-life brehs, I remember when we won in 99 that was real jubilation and pride that only legit fans of their teams know that feeling

naw i went to bennett :sadcam:

but u pretty much said as the bills got shytty you started turning to new teams . there aint nothing wrong with liking more than one team...but showing less support for your squad due to their lack of success is the definition of bandwagoner

if the bills were still doing it like they were in the early 90's would ya still be seeing "red white and blue"?

:what: I didn't say that at all. I said now I notice other teams. I used to only watch the Bills now I'll watch any game. And since I don't live in Buffalo anymore I rarely see the Bills play anyway.

Again... I'm a die hard Bills fan. That will never change unless they move.

You completely misunderstood what I posted.

:snoop: at the lengths people are going to in here to justify being a front runner.

Just come out and admit you like to root for winners, all of this extra stuff isn't necessary.

49ers..Braves..Celtics
There are a lot of franchises across the four major sports that are still losing money and have thousands of empty seats for every game.

If a team fukks off long enough... people won't show up. shyt, in Atlanta attendance dropped almost 50% for the Braves during the late 90's/early 2000's because they took the team for granted. Even the first round of the playoffs weren't sellouts.Did you see how many empty seats the Mets had last season? ..and they weren't terrible for long. Maybe 5 years?

Did you ever see an old Yankee game on Yankee classics from the 80's and you could hear a pin drop? Mattingly would hit a bomb into the upper deck and there'd be ONE GUY running up the stairs to go get it.

Owners still have to put a product on the field/court and even then it's not a guarantee that it'll be successful. Fans are still a driving force behind revenue even with TV being big big business for them.

im saying

:aicmon: at cats who are like "Im a lebron fan"

My hometown doesn't have a team. :shaq2:

I'm a LeBron fan because he's from Akron. That was my 2nd home growing up so in a sense he's like the hometown kid to me. Has anyone ever heard of Akron, OH before LeBron James? I have. So when I heard there was a HS phenom from there I started following his career. I had no loyalty to any team, still don't. But I'm happy to see the Akron son shytting on nikkaz and making cats like you mad.

This thread is some grade A certified bytchassness. Root for a fukking team. I've rooted for the Bengals since I lived here. Do we have shytty times? Yeah, but when we win big games and do well, I get fukking BELIGGERENT. I can name off pretty much every starter. I've spent money on these motherfukkers. BEcause I'm a real fan. You're gonna pick one superstar and root for him? Word? You try to justify it by making it a racial thing?

Would you consider a "LeBron fan" a front runner? He was a born loser just last month so how would that be considered front running? I rode with him for 7 years in Cleveland, going through disappointment after disappointment. Stayed loyal when he brought his talents to my current state of residence. More disappointment last year. Entered the Finals this year as the underdog according to most.

I been waiting a decade for this so fukk your hurt feelings, nikka. :stylin:

Dear God you are an idiot. Disappointment after disappointment in Cleveland? Lebron James and the Cavaliers made the NBA Finals in 2007 and followed that up with back to back years of the NBA's best regular season record. Then in his first year the Heat made it to the NBA finals before winning it all in his second year.

Wow you have suffered through so much as a fan......

I dont really respect nikkas who solely route for a "team" because of a certain player. I admire certain players wish well on them but my hometown teams>>>>>>>>everybody else. What happens if that player gets hurt, retires, or traded then you just goin act like a prostitute and jump from dikk to dikk.:pacspit:

So just root for whoever the best team in the league is at that time???

What is the fukking point???? How is that even fun or exciting???

never said that

but being a bandwagon fan is no more lame than being a hardcore supporter

at the end of the day, it shouldn't matter to YOU...why certain people root for certain players or teams

your not a "real fan"....your just a loyal customer, a loyal consumer

extreme loyalty to a sports team is the gayest shyt there is

people dedicate so much time and energy to shyt that at the end of the day, doesnt affect their lives at all. only greater example is religion

exactly!

these guys don't realize that some of the cacs that own the teams are not even loyal to their franchises the way some of these 9 to 5 suckas are

if anything, blindly rooting for a team because you're from a city is feminine....it shows that you're a mindless sheep who is desperate to feel a part of something

some of yall even root for college teams that sent you rejection letters that said "you are not good enough to spend $30,000 a year on bullshyt classes at this institution of higher learning"

:dead:

so youre supposed to root for a team because thats where the slaveship dropped off your ancestors? :what:

when the proportion of black coaches/executives in the nba is comparable to the proportion of black players carrying the league, i will fall back on this stance.

when the dan gilberts of the world stop talking about the lebrons like they belong on a plantation, ill fall back

when team owners start publicly denouncing their fans who hurl slurs at black players and throw food/beverages at them, ill fall back

theres nothing wrong with rooting for a team, but rooting your your favorite players is equally acceptable and it is UNQUESTIONABLY more manly.
