Can we all agree that Lil Wayne started the "open colorism" trend in today's music?

just popped those off the top of my head in 10 seconds from 2 of the most popular rappers of the late 90s early 2gs. I Point is, again, that Wayne ain't start it. But hey, do you.

nikka, it's not about who said "light skin" or "red bone" in a song first....

Jesus Christ, it's like a nikka can be as well articulated, detailed and thorough in the OP and y'all still come in here confused as ever, ready to argue about the exact shyt I'd try to avoid confusion from by explaining it in the beginning. I'm done with your confused argumentative ass.... dip from my thread :hhh:

NYC....

I know that here, it ain't really about color. If a chick look good, she look good. Period.

If you go to one of these jamaican, trini, grenadian parties, a lot of times the baddest bytch in there ain't even light skin. She's brown, dark brown, dark skin, etc...

The whole "red bone" shyt... first off of all, the term originated from the south. I ain't ever heard it officially til I visited my fam in Miami when I was a kid.

So if my logic is right, the reason we keep hearing about "red bones" then before is because ever since the south took over hip-hop, it's shown the world where all the c00ns come from.
Ok so youre just not familar with AA culture.

Im from california and ive heard the term redbone my entire life, im sure any AA whether from chicago, detroit, DC, or birmingham would say the same.

Lightskin women have always been "poppin" in our culture.

I guess it's just me. Growing up I was more into brown skin and darker girls. My skin complexion like Jim Jones... so I always preferred the Chrissy's and Juju's... and they always preferred me :manny:

Make a post about Black men being colorstruck and do it while having an avatar of a Black character with his pale Latina love interest , Broham.

Thread has nothing to do with my avy. But if you really wanna know, I had to stop dealing with black women because I realized my mental health is more important. It's still all love tho

I feel like Wayan is the Allen Iverson of rap he gets blammed for all the negative trends in his industry. It was popular before Wayne and colorism ain't even prevalent like how it was before. Wayne has become the scapegoat.
No. Lil Wayne popularized junkie music, to the point where it was respectable to be a dope fiend. Future came thru and really crushed the buildings with his own brand of junkie music/dope fiend friendly lyrics
So party music didn't exist before lil wayne?

Berg said he didn’t like “dark butts” and said something about hair too in an interview iirc. Kanye made that “mutts” comment in an interview 10-12 yrs ago. But
That “look better red” line had me like :snoop: especially when my dark skinned girl friends played “right above it” over and over.

I don't know why you quoted me asking a question that has nothing to do with what I said. Probably quoted the wrong person.
No I quoted you because you said Wayne gets blamed for all the negatives and dude said Wayne popularized junkie music when songs about drug use is as old as music itself.
