Hip hop was destroyed when hustlers became musicians exclusively cause they have the money to pay to get ahead. When that first started they were atleast putting in tye time to be great artists. Combine that wit sincerity being replaced by swag... yea. Here we are.

All i want from an artist is honesty but well never get that again on a mass scale. Itll he one or two artists a year if ya lucky.

The death of the regional sound is what really hurts tho.

bingo!!!

when JAY Z said im not a RAPPER......IM A HUSTLER

That became the THEME for basically every new artist post 1996..from the EAST COAST ..TO THE WEST AND THE SOUTH

EVEN BIGGIE HIMSELF SAID..."im not trying to be the BEST RAPPER..im trying to be the one with the MOST MONEY"........
:manny:

and we can't forget DIDDY's shallow approach to hip hop when he made it clear

DON'T WORRY IF I WRITE RHYMES...I WRITE CHECKS!!!

Even hip hop purist mc's like NAS became COMMERCIAL HUSTLERS overnight..

nasty nas evolved into ESCOBAR.... :umad:

SO YOU CAN'T BLAME THE SOUTH FOR FOLLOWING THE NEW BUSINESS MODEL OF THE MID TO LATE 90s

which brought about the CASH MONEY'S..SUAVE HOUSE...NO LIMIT and every other popping movemen of the south...

YALL PSUEDO HIP HOP PURISTS...ARE A BUNCH OF DUMBAZZES....

WHO FAIL TO REALIZE IT'S COMMERCE that has trumped this SO CALLED CULTURE

which was NEVER A CULTURE to begin with once the first rap records got manufactured by mafia backed labels like SUGARHILL GANG and PRIORITY RECORDS...

AND WE CAN'T FORGET THE ROLE THE INTERNET HAS PLAYED.......

ITS ELIMIATING THE IDENTITY OF REGIONS...

NYC was about dark beats and samples and timbs

CALI was bout old school whips with the switches and gangsta beats and symbolisim

SOUTH was about party friendly ....bass driven music which appealed to females and club lovers

NOW EVERYBODY IS TALKING ABOUT THE SAME THING ...MONEY...

WEARING THE SAME SHYT......VIA THE HYPEBEASTS....

AND TALKING THE SAME SLANG...."IT'S LIT"...

FUKK OUTTA HERE....

And FUKK ALL YALL CRAKKKERS and C00NS promoting this Divisive Tribal bullshyt

Being how i think i used to be one of these guys in my youth... this one annoys me the most in the current age cuz you can see tye difference between artists over the years.

But those types dont even know whatvthey want.

Theyll say they want “real hip hop” and listeh to “copy cat” artists aka whomever is hot in the “underground” circle this year; because it reminds them of their fav artists from the past... which should he the reason they find these acts cheap knockoffs with no soul but instead they too roll with the “whos hot”. If these artists were real “fans” of those legends theyd know to develop they own styles more instead of being cheap wutang/mf doom/mobb deep/etc knockoffs.

I also hate the 100 features a year thing. There is NO WAY to maintain QUALITY doing that while releasing 4-5 projects a year. Idc who you are.

good points about the east coast with jay, nas and biggie

that's what bothered black thought in his critiques on what they do

to add on to your points, you had prodigy saying on hell on earth "fukk rap i'm tryin to make cream and that's that"

the labels have million dollar production budget

the artist is expendable

simple catchy lyrics sell more

labels dont care about the craft with the million dollar budget to buy beats, have writers and producers structure the song

so the quality beat is worth a 100,000 or whatever so then you put sub bar rappers on it

and since the song is put together well has legendary hook man like a Drake or something the song is a hit

or any big name hook artist it's gonna take off even if it's simple the hook rapper not gonna turn it down they get paid to do that

sub par label artist + 100,000 beat + Star Hook artist + major push

vs

an underground artist with luv for the craft dope lyricist + 999$ dollar beat

Sub par wins time and time again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone saying otherwise is juelzin

Man the drop in quality of music on the rap radio shows once the South blew up... Jeez. Went from listening and taping songs every week to straight giving up on hip hop completely when they took over.

In 2020 Without the south “hip hop” music would’ be as popular as break dancing and graffiti.

Hip- Hop is a movement that keeps moving. Anybody could jump in the Double Dutch and shift the game so instead of complaining ...bang

Is J Cole and Kendrick of the world not influential
Enough
