This is 10000% facts, the South got to the forefront and literally put the music (and the listeners) on the short yellow bus and rode off into the sunset. Outside of what the south did to rap I love the south, all my fam from down there so it's not hate...but since they been at the forefront of rap everything and everyone has become numb to stupidity and bad rapping, lol. The ill part is most of us don't even realize that we have been so saturated in this trash that our ears have adapted to it and we actually like a lot of it now, :ohhh:
These pork and cornfed illiterates make every excuse for their trash though

not the south. more like atlanta.

and atlanta rappers were just pawns on a chess board.

lets address the hands that placed them there.

Some yall sound like NYC niccas when the west started to have its run.

Who controls the pipeline to the radio, social media and major distro outlets..?

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
I don’t agree that the south “killed” hip hop per say, it added a flavor to it, but I do think as far as 2018 goes the south running hip hop is over exaggerated.

Throughout the few years that past many of hip hops one hit wonders/played out artist have come from the south but the southern folks do a good job of making it seem like they never existed. (Trinidad James, Og Maco etc)

Can OG Maco Be More Than A One-Hit Wonder? | Pitchfork

“Of Complex's list of "11 Songs That Made 2014 the Year of the Rap One-Hit Wonder", five of them were by Atlanta artists, one being OG Maco.”

I’m also looking at the billboard charts.

Top Hip-Hop Songs / R&B Songs Chart

And only two of the top songs are from Atlanta artist. Back in 06,07,08,09 I’m pretty sure 9 of those top ten songs would be from ATL.

I also checked the the top streamed hip hop artist of 2018 and the only ATL artist that made that list was The Migos.

Top R&B/Hip-Hop Artists - Year-End

In my opinion the years the south really ran hip hop was my high school years between 05-09 when 106 Park would have 9 out of 10 music videos from southern artist.

During those times Texas, Atlanta, Memphis, Florida all had a lot of talent coming out. Now Texas, Memphis and Florida are not on a strong wave and Atlanta is on a comparable wave to NY right now as evident with the streams, Billboards and number 1 albums being produced recently.

Maybe people will see this soon. Idk.

Nope...

HipHop or atleast NY HipHop died when they stopped using them gritty jazz beats and did away with DJ's sampling, cutting and mixing:umad:

Martha

You can literally say all hip hop from the south except ATL has died also.

:mjlol:

And even with ATL when it comes to top tier talent their numbers on the chart aren’t much different than NY currently lol.
