his tenure w/ d’anphoni in NY did him in ultimately in the long run...he was a star then so it was “tolerated”...whether it’s accurate or not that “solidified“ him in the eyes of team higher-ups as a “coach killer” (I’m not debating if the label is warranted just saying how it was viewed by some)...I was surprised that he went to the rockets but was not surprised when he was basically cut...there was no way in hell I would believe that d’anphoni was on some forgive or forget shyt

hen on O he's not really bringing much to the table unless you use him as your #1 or #2 guy and let him get a high volume of shots up
Wasnt the first or second option in Houston and his numbers were fine. Avg 13pts at 50%efg playing 29mpg in a role he wasnt prepped for. Thats more than serviceable.

ACTUALLY HE ONLY SHOT WELL IN THE GAMES WHERE HE TOOK
18, 17, 14 & 12 SHOTS WHICH PROVES DUDES POINT.

HE WAS THE 1ST OPTION IN ONE OF THOSE GAMES
THE 2ND OPTION IN TWO OF THOSE GAMES
AND THE 3RD OPTION IN THE OTHER.

HE SHOT 25% IN THE 6 OTHER GAMES
WHERE HE WAS RELEGATED TO A SPOT UP SHOOTER.

Its too small of a sample size to say that he was incapable to do anything more than what he did. Especially on the Rockets of all teams with that horrible ball movement. He's not a spot shooter. We know that already. But Houston was a bad fit at a bad time and he was cut before he could show he could adjust. The excuse they wanted was Melo was the reason they were losing and the truth was otherwise, regardless of what people thought of his game. In my opinion at least.

It's not really about being serviceable though, it's about the demand he has for the ball and how it conflicts with what offensive scheme teams have in place. The production he provides is easily replaceable by players who dominate the ball less, aren't all up in the videos of possessions, and provide other impactful actions (particularly on defense).

These are facts. This is a league in which JR Smith of all people literally got his brother a roster spot. The stars in this league have an absurd amount of power.

Exactly Melo is a rhythm scorer he is not a catch and shoot player so if the offense isn't giving him touches to get his rhythm he can't be effective as a pure spot up shooter, the scond half of OKC season where he bought in to his role but he couldn't hit open shots at all which while shocking isn't really to knicks fans since ever since that knee surgery in 2014 or 2015 he has been struggling with his shot and not the same Melo as he was the first ten years where he was good enough into the playoffs by himself, i hope it was worth it wanting to represent NY in the all star game rather than get the surgery

If Melo could hit open shots he would be in the league, and the only way for him to be effective his if teams allow him to get his mid range touches which is a no no in the new NBA

And yet there are players on rosters that are much worst in anything than Melo, and aren't even capable of scoring. Lance Thomas is on a roster. He's slow, can't score, can't pass, can't shoot, or slash, or handle the ball, and can't defend.

I always tell people Lance Thomas is a black man with white privilege. He ain’t even a sell out. White people like him so he just fails upward.

Ryan Anderson who is a WAY worse defender is on a NBA roster. Chandler Parsons' corpse is on a NBA roster. Retirement body Jared Dudley is on NBA roster.

Don't piss on us & tell us it's rain. We're not stupid.
Jared Dudley is a solid team defender

And you are mentioning guys who are back end of the bench guys at this point in their career. Melo is not trying to be a god damn 12th man use common sense.
