kill the sideline/corner 3!

An underrated suggestion a lot of people had was to widen the court so there's more space on the corner. Allows more manueverability so you have more options around the baseline. Should thereotically lessen the amount of corner 3s taken and lower the percentage of corner 3s made.

I don't think the court widening happens as that would remove seats aka remove $$$$.

killing the sideline/corner 3 is a good compromise IMO

Today's product is not as bad as that, but yeah, too many teams play the same way so many nights it's just a lottery 3 point contest which is hard to watch period.

Only time i bare to watch an NBA game is if i have money involved. Even then i casually watch.

Nobody trying to watch nikkas run some 10 second offense that results in pic n roll 3's :hhh:

People who claim "Every team plays the same" are exposing themselves. Teams played much similar styles to each other back in the day than they do now. Just because people are shooting a ton of three's doesn't mean all the teams play the same....

Started as the ABA gimmick, now a crucial part for a basketball player.

If you come up with 4pt line thats further from 3 pt line... Few decades later you'll have everyone shooting from 4pt line.
thats why the best solution is to get rid of the 3 point line entirely. scores are up, but the downside is competitive games are down. look at last night yes its a small sample size, but margin of victory was 12, 16, 21, 21, and 31. the past 10 finals only 4 series have had at least half of their games decided by single digits. the 10 finals prior to that, 8 of those series at least half of the games were decided by single digits.

P.G. County
Clippers, Lakers, Cavs all play great defense
2 of the leading candidates for MVP Embiid, Jokic have elite post games as well as outside shots, rebounding and passing
Brooklyn has 3 of the top-10 iso players in league history
Giannis, Randle, Vucevic, Zion, Simmons are paint scoring machines
Elite scoring wings are everywhere: Kawhi, KD, Harden, Bron, PG, LaVine, Beal, McCollum, Tatum, Brown, BI, Booker, Hayward, Mitchell, Middleton, Harris, Derozan. All those wings average 20+ppg

You guys are getting bent out of shape over the 3 ball. If the line was moved 8 feet back and they were still shooting 24 footers you would be applauding the shot as a mid-range. Dont let the arc on the ground turn you into deluded grandpas wishing for the civil rights era 60s or your older brother wishing for the 80s crack era republican presided 80s.

NBA League Averages - Per Game | Basketball-Reference.com (basketball-reference.com)

League fg% in 2020-2021 so far .461, this is tied for the highest since 1995-96, and teams are shooting twice as many 3s now
The free throw attempts/game the last decade are the lowest for any decade in league history. Unless y'all want more fouls and free throws

eFG highest in league history .534
FT% .772, this would be second highest in league history (highest .773, last year)
3pt% .368 highest in league history, including the shortened line mid-90s
FGA/game 88.5, 32nd highest. The glory days of the 90s, they only averaged about 4 fewer shots

It’s terrible. People think the nba can survive the next 10 years like this they’re mistaken. Like, we ain’t crazy. I’m not even hating on the young talent, but these games ain’t even interesting. These players all play the same. Pick and roll, switch, stepback... rinse and repeat. :mjcry:

the average team takes 40% of their shots from 3

:russell:

Game has changed—it happens

It’ll change again

Not just the three-ball even though that part seems to be featured more than ever

Has to do with pacing and spacing and refereeing too

How soon y’all forget them barn burners that ended with final scores in the 80s—I can’t categorically says that was a better product from top to bottom than what we have now

Blowouts are never fun for the average fan but those have happened in every era

Y’all sounding like some prisoners of the moment, like our daddies and grandpas and uncles that used to say to us that the game was better than what we grew up with too

So how does this keep evolving? Are we headed towards a place where 60...70...80% of shots are 3s?

Every single cotdamn week y'all nikkas is complaining about the game. Why the fukk are y'all still watching? It ain't changing anytime soon. You sound like them hoes who're always complaining about their man, and how he ain't shyt, yet still hang around.

:unimpressed:

And you know what the funny part is? The two teams that take the least amount of 3s by a significant margin, the Knicks & Cavs, get paid complete dust on here outside of their respective fanbases. The two teams that take the most mid-range shots, the Spurs & Magic, get paid complete dust on here outside of their respective fanbases. Hell, folks complain about post play not being highlighted enough anymore, yet the two leading MVP candidates operate out of the post more than any other player. You would think the Coli would be bouncing off the walls with excitement :skip:
