Interesting huh. Despite the beautiful ball movement the Spurs used to display, there was still a loud and proud contingent of people who shytted on them and called it boring. Sounds to me like regardless of how NBA teams play there’s always gonna be a segment of people that are unhappy :patrice:

Naw it's not because the Spurs was the only ones doing that shyt that was decade's of being trained to hate them specifically for no reason.

Everyone plays the same now bruh versy stark contrast you tried though I'll give you that:salute:

If the NBA was a black ran league, no way would the product look like this.
And why is that you nikkas act like black people don’t like three pointers?

The game has been trending this way since the three point line was added. It’s common sense.

It was black players that pushed the boundaries on shot selection and positional versatility.

Meh. Style of play isn’t as diverse as it used to be, but I also think that the narrative that everyone plays the same is overblown too.

I agree with Chuck.

Take away the 3 point shot in the 1st and 2nd quarters... The game will improve. You'd see the game diversity with post game, inside shots, mid range and then the 3 point barrage that fans of this era like.
That is how you turn one of the best players to ever play in the NBA in Steph Curry into an ordinary player you won’t have to guard closely anymore. He can launch threes from Oracle and it ain’t gonna matter. James Wiseman making 60% of his shots inside will hurt you more than Curry shooting 42% from a nonexistent line worth 2 points.

the game went to shyts with the emergence of steph curry and the warriors. and thats no knock on them really, cause they were just playin their game.

but a lot of teams and players tried to mimick them not realizing that those warriors teams actually played defense and werent ONLY shooting threes.

the year before they won, the spurs won, displaying some of the most beautiful basketball we've ever seen.

the last real non gimmick basketball game was game 7 of the 2016 finals. once durant came to GS(same year dantoni went to the rockets after a 2 year absence from the league) IT became a league wide three point contest.

shyt is only watchable if you are watchin your own team or if you are betting

I don't think it was the warriors...it was morey's rockets and his insistence that shooting a shyt ton of 3's was the only way to beat the warriors...that was the tipping point for other teams to follow suit...

And on paper the shyt works...you see teams with less talent than other teams stay in the game longer cause all anybody is doing is shooting the exact same types of shots...

The wizards don't have nearly the basketball talent the clippers have but if they pay 10 times in 7 or 8 of those games the wizards can be down 5 or up 5 with 5 minutes to go due solely to how basketball is played now...where if the game was slowed down to half court execution and running plays and coaches actually designing real strategy the wizards would be down 20 points at the end of the 1st quarter of all 10 games due to scott brooks being arguably the dumbest coach in the league...

I mean if literally taking away one shot takes steph from best player to ordinary...who good was steph anyway ?

You take the 3 pointer away from Kawhi...guess what he still going to 30 piece you...

Take the midrange away...guess what he still going to 3o piece you...

Take the post away and say you can only score on long 2's...guess what he still going to 30 piece you...

Say the only way you can score is to get to the freethrow line...guess what he still going to 20 piece you...

You can tell who watches basketball and who doesnt.

to disregard the 80’s nonchalant approach to defenses and there up and down offense style of that time, is myopic. A narrative to shyt on todays game, Which has its flaws.

Or maybe compare it to early 90’s defense which was to take a nikkas head off driving down the lane. That aint defense. Fun to watch and all but theres a clear line btw violence and great defense. It aint that close.

But what modern coaching and skill players have to today is the ability to exploit the defense more than ever. Technology, analytics, etc are vital aspects in that progression.

The time of “oh you big and lanky, hit the post”. Or “you small, quick and got handle”stick to just passing dont dare score first, those times are over.

Yup. I agree. Funny thing is I said the same on this website and got roasted. "Oh you must've liked those 90 to 82 point games from back in the day"......you mean I liked seeing guys put some effort into playing defense?

KD plays the game the right way. Cause as great as shooter he is he's never taken more than about 6 or 7 3's a game and most of his shots are of the mid range jumper and post game. He's the one cat in the game i wouldn't mind just saying fukk it and shooting 10 or 12 3's a game. But it's just different now seeing guys shoot 20 shots and 13 of them are 3's. Even if it's the better shot numbers wise that doesn't mean shyt if the guy shooting it isn't a good shooter.

Every idea you guys have for curbing 3 pointers is always some stupid ass gimmicky bullshyt like this :mjlol:

All you really have to do is make it less of a viable strategy. Bring back handchecking and get rid of zone defenses. It'll be harder for perimeter players to drive and kick, and there will be no zone to try shooting over.
